Hi all

Can you have a look at my first ever website that i built, you may be as critical as you like as i want to get it right. The address is http://www.sunsetvistavilla.co.uk i do not know how to create a link to it on here so maybe you can copy and paste the address to your browser, or is there someone who can tell me how to do a link to the website

Well Jimbo, either the administrators have helped you out or, as I suspect the link was automatically created when you sent the message because it is highlighted in blue and 1 click takes you there.

As for the website, looks pretty good for a first attempt but the main picture is not centrallised and the background is a little bland but I have never tried to do it so I am impressed on the whole. Hope this helps

The DSite looks ok and is easy to get round the only thing i would change is the font colour for the pages that you click on from white to bold black found the white on blue hard to see

Good first attempt I would say, never having done one myself. The main picture creates questions, are you trying to hide the area around your villas?

Check your spelling i.e. detached not detatched. More photos of the interiors and the views would be useful. Good luck.

Seems fine to me however, I would put 'RENTAL' at the top. Got through to your site by clicking your site address which came up in blue on the Forum note page. All clear and precise with relevant information, good luck!

Pretty good!

Corrections needed (you'll have to find them, sorry!): -

Capitalisation required: Karpas,Vista, UK,

Turkish character required: Bahçeler, (just cut and paste if you don't know how to do it...)

Currency is now TL not YTL,

Text should read: "We require a 20% deposit," - you can only say "would" IF it was going to be followed by an 'IF'!

I agree that the soft focus photo raises suspicions - reminds me of a Barbara Cartland passport photo!

A damn sight better than my first attempt - well done.

Keith.

Hi Jimbo,

I'm new on this forum, having found it while investigating a potential move to North Cyprus.

I work in IT, specifically, implementing and optimising websites. Feel free to drop me an email and I'll be happy to chat about making your site as effective as possible (No charge, I'm not selling anything!).

Perhaps in return I could pick your brains about living in the North?

Jimbo,

nice and simple, easy to navigate easy on the eyes and no FLASH presentations.

Good web site I hope it pays dividends for you, well done.

Much better!

You missed one 'UK' - last word on the car hire page.

Mind you, I missed it first time.

I just LOVE it when people actually ASK me to criticise their work...

makes note - 'must get out more...'

Keith.

p.s. I agree about the 'contact' form, I'm not tot keen on them either, and why does it say 'E-mail address' under 'Contact us'?

That should read 'not too keen'...

I wouldn't mind, but I'd already corrected it once! - It read 'not to keen' at first!

Keith.

Cursory glance, and as a follow on from Keithcaley's Msg 14 - "separate" has two a's, not three e's.......

Hi Jimbo I also think the site looks pretty good and have the following comments:

I would agree you should ditch the soft focus on the main picture and go for a picture that shows the surrounding area of the villa.

Perhaps you could find a North Cyprus related picture for your banner heading rather than the Greek Acropolis (or whatever it is).

Try and cut down the wording in the paragraph that starts "Situated in the sleepy village ..." so that "pools" fits on to the end of the previous line rather than underneath the photograph as it will look a lot neater.

In the links at the top of the page I think you should change "The villas and rates" to "The Villas and Rates" so that it matches the style of the other headings.

Great prices by the way and I wish you every success with renting.

Jo

Sorry but the text looks a bit too square, you need to make it more pleasant to for the eye. Use one of the MS FrontPage templates, it's very easy and looks professional.

Fantastic first effort, having looked at the source and keywords I think if you are going to optimise the search engine rankings then keywords will need to be altered and the homepage which the spiders will search for relevance will need keywords added.

To much space from header to title and image, all images should have a border or be embossed to bring them out, try not to use turkish alphabet as in Bahceler as most users i.e holiday makers will not use these letters in searches. Veranda is the right font but 12 is a bit big, black is good though.

Availabilty calender is excellent, but could do with a change over day split icon.
