Hi everyone, there are some disturbing burglaries last days in our response area and all around kyrenia. The villages in our Police Station's response area are; Lapta, Karşıyaka, Alsancak, Yeşiltepe, Ilgaz, Malatya and İncesu.

We hope that you are considering our struggle against crimes. But however we are working too much, we must work together with you to get success. If you want to get involve to prevent and solve crimes with us, we will ask some help from you and they are for your safety first.

if you have any questions or information about burglaries never hesitate to contact with us.

This is great news. A joint effort between residents and the Police is a positive step forward.

Very forward thinking Lapta police. Wish the police at home were so intuitive.

Believe we are getting burglaries East of Girne now. Are the police this side on the ball as well. Is there a number we can ring ?

Absolutely brilliant

thank you Lapta Police. I'm sure if we all work together, there will not be so many burglaries.

The benefit of that would be to have signs saying 'Neighbourhood Watch Zone'.

If the burglaries stopped, it would confirm the burglars were Brit's.

If the burglaries continued, the burglars must obviously be non-Brit!

It would help if some idea was given on this Forum as to how we can help the police? Would Laptapolis care to comment please. That way you can reach a lot of us at the same time instead of replying to individual e mails.

I am sure there are many of us who would like to help, and, if possible would like a name of a contact at the police Station.

Most people are keen to work alongside the Police to improve life, and many of us would have been iunvolved in Neighbourhood Watch in U.K - is Lapta Police thinking of doing something on the same lines.

When we were involved, we had a direct link to the police station!

We already have Neighbourhood Watch here! If I see/hear anyone/thing dodgy about (or more truthfully if Sparky hears a pin drop outside) I'm in like Flynn and checking it out!

We don't have twitching curtains - but the shutters wobble nicely...

Whatever the date of the original posting the phone numbers are still valid and everyone in the catchment area should keep these numbers handy. I know that they have also made an effort to make sure that there is always at least one English speaking Policeman available at all times.

Please make sure you write down the numbers correctly - the last one is similar tomy own and I often get frantic calls for the Police Station. Now I can see why. A wrong digit and suddenly I become the Law!

Never and by the way my attitude to life is, yep you have guessed, my glass is always full.

Who knows, all I am saying is that the telephone numbers are valid. Whether the e-mail address is valid or not I do not know but I guess you could always try it for yourself and let us know how you get on.

I agree with your suspicions, anyone opening their first post with, "Hi everyone", does not smack of a legitimate posting from the law however, as you've verified the telephone numbers as being legitimate not a bad aware call for everyone.

This thread is genuine. While I was dealing with something at Lapta police staion last April, I was chatting to a police officer who spoke excellent English.

He asked if I read the Cyprus44 and when I said yes, he asked if I had seen the posting that Lapta police had posted. I told him I had and he asked if his English writing was good!!!

He said that he and other officers read the board.

The Police would be better respected 'banging up' bent lawyers who seem to have legitimised theft than monitoring their resources on minor 'crimes' such as noise abatement on a Sunday!

AJ, Dave

With problems concerning whether you left a half filled pint glass of beer or not, it would be polite to keep an appointment for a full glass of beer on your promised arrival!

Sally,

Was it just vandalism or was there some 'message' in the spraying?

Graffiti is not that common in Cyprus, certainly nowhere near as prevalent as it is in inner city areas in the UK. Paint costs money and they don't tend to waste it...

it was a male 'willie' sign ,TODM and AK. and general blue paint everywhere - the road sign painted and street lights also broken. Got pictures

two weeks ago bricks/stones were thrown through patio doors and about eight expensive toilet rolls found in the garden.
