Don't understand why it says germans and dutch can just go back with pets but brits don't have that option. Am I missing something ?

Amber, this is what it say's on the link about it.

"Mrs Lago explained that British quarantine laws made it especially difficult for returning British expatriates to take their dogs with them. She said the pet passport scheme, which allows animals clear of rabies to be brought into Britain, can take up to seven months and cost £1,000 in vet and kennel fees.

"The Germans or Dutch just put their pets in the back of the car and off they go, but the Brits don't have that option," she said."

Caniscontemn, What are you talking about? Are these sacks you need for putting the pups in? Sick!

A manager brings a dog into a nightclub to work.

The dog is a brilliant piano player. He plays all the

standards. He’s sitting there, pounding out the tunes,

when all of a sudden, a big dog comes in and drags him

out. The nightclub owner asks, “What happened?”

The manager says,

“That’s his mother. She wants him to be a doctor.”

how terrible, as the article states dogs are a family member (or at least should be) and goes on to say would they abandon their children, well makes you wonder.

Whether it is a 'wind up' or not, the poster was not bringing anything positive to the board and had already been warned once so your posting 'don't take things so serious, lighten up a little!' is invalid.

Take care

The reason for abandoning dogs could also be that the government announced this morning the clamping down of "abroad fraud" starting with Spain. Maybe expats there are getting a little bit edgy.
