New cards are on their way.

This time it's official. How do I know it's not another rumour?

And there are a lot of people who will be receiveing them through a company called Quickpenny.

My mate earns £25 everytime Sky send out new cards. He doesn't have Sky and they this company uses his address as a mailing point. If anyone else wants to join goto http://www.quickpenny.net

Give that girl a coconut;) re msg 1

I warned of this two month ago !

SKY use an encryption system that hasn't been "hacked" but certain folk found a way to SHARE cards... not for much longer .. Sky should have replaced them a year ago, but they wanted to be SURE they would screw the Dreambox pirates..

Other pay TV cos. will be doing the same, soon ...

Re msg 3

SKY will *wear* about 4 subs at one address - your mate earns £25 and the buggers are "selling" SKY cards for 150 - 200 Euro s and charging an annual admin fee on top....

A certain Turkish purveyor of SKY cards / boxes had 3000 clients listed from an address from London -until SKY HAD to tighten up - as Ofcom received complaints from folk who couldn't cancel their SKY subs from dodgy dealers as THEY weren't the official account holder.

This guy "quickpenny" would appear to be in Spain...

Do you believe the new cards will still work in two different Sky boxes?

For example; if you had Sky HD in the UK, and had a spare old Sky Digibox that you connected up over here, would the card work, when you took it out of your UK HD box and brought it over here on your holidays?

Thanks.

ive asked similar question and have been reliably informed that you could just bring your sky hd box complete ,plug it into your dish here and will work no problems .

that would for me save on any additional subscription or having a system in NC not being used 45 weeks a year .

for me im going to get iceman to fit me a 1.8mtr dish and do as above

Kavenkoy with a 1.8 mtr dish you will not get full coverage on basic channels, I am sure you realise this already though.

Dear PC,

re msg 5

"Do you believe the new cards will still work in two different Sky boxes? "

Currently, if you have a Premium package - you will get this is the wrong card for this set top box - if you try to view movies / sports in another box, but the mixes - Ent, Music, News, Documentaries, etc., DO work in another box

The pause/ record facility WON'T work in another SKY + / SKY HD+ box - same for pay HD channels

Sadly, I can't SAY if this will be the case with the new cards...YET

Thanks Mark.

I had to read your response a few times to try and get the answer.

Your version: Currently, if you have a Premium package - you will get this is the wrong card for this set top box - if you try to view movies / sports in another box, but the mixes - Ent, Music, News, Documentaries, etc., DO work in another box

My interpretation: Currently, if you have a Premium package and you try to view movies / sports in another box you will get the following message: "this is the wrong card for this set top box".

However, the mixes - Ent, Music, News, Documentaries, etc., DO work in another box.

LOL ;)

PS. I was once downgraded from the top English class E1 straight to E5. There were 9 levels! So hopefully, I haven't made a fool of myself!

Dear PC, my English is "NornIrn" - if you say it with a N.Ireland accent and emphasis it will come out ok and all makes sense. ;)

You managed to decipher it, well
