my husband and i have a place in alsancak and we intend to retire there eventually, but in the meantime, i will have time on my hands in the coming months and i would love to learn the language and help out voluntarily with local projects to integrate with local people.

i wondered if there was anybody that i could contact that would put me in touch with any local projects

hope to hear from anybody that can give me any advice

thanks

KAR is run mainly by Brits.

If you mean local you might need to start with SOS which has a lot of "local" staff. Or ask your local Imam or Mukhta

Hi Angie, we too are hoping to retire to Cyprus in the near future (dependent on the housing market in the UK picking up) and I will also be looking to get involved - our house is in Lapta. Please let me know how you get on.

Thanks everybody,

your posts are a great help.

Lots of ideas for me to investigate when I get over there in early June
