I don't know if it is as a result of the events of the past few days, but we have started getting unsolicited emails, all with attachments. Needless to say I am deleting them without opening. It could be a coincedence, but beware.

Run professional anti-virus software (not free) and include "checking incoming email". It's that easy.

Not sure, but went to a South Side Forum which was hard for to follow (thick me) but someone was boasting about having hacked into this Forum and other pro TRNC ones and claimed they had destroyed them. I saw DC dialogue and he was just berated, abused in a very unpleasant manner but he 'stood his ground', well done Hans! I've had no unsolicited mail but G3 went down so maybe they've got to them as well!

i saw they have copied over a lot of comments and info from peoples postings here. who knows what info they may have been able to hack into. i couldn't believe the twisted views of most people and how they can be so arrogant and spiteful. i'm so glad to be KKTC.

Denise...The Wicks, 'They' don't have to hack in to anything to see peoples email addresses, 'they' only have to make 50 posts, I would suggest anyone who has their email address available to check before opening or a DC suggests run a scan first.

Vicki, I know our email address can be seen & that's our choice. We wanted it on here so if, at any time people wanted to contact us, then they could. We are checking & if in doubt just throw it out. If the idiots that hacked in want to waste their time sending us dodgy emails, so be it. The Dunkirk spirit seems to have shone through once again.

P&J Good Morning......I am not suggesting it is a bad idea to show email addresses (although it was for me!.) I am just making people aware, that if you do show your email address then it can be easily accessed by anyone who makes 50 post's or more, which doesn't take long.

Because we have all read what the other BB has to say about us all, everyone please scan all email before opening.

ronaldo.....Just so we are all clear on this, did your friend show their email address? I am now thinking that it may not be just the posters who display their addresses.

If you're not sure how to fight malicious emails: use (free) webmail (my suggestion: you@gmail.com - Go to http://www.google.com and choose gmail). Your email will be checked for spam, viruses and what have you.

If you run an email program on your own hard drive: download a program for Windows XP/Vista and check your email on your provider's server first. You then can block unwanted senders for ever (and bounce/delete their message). Then download the emails you trust through your anti-virus software.

Dearest DC.. I run a free A/Virus prog ( AVG free) and have done so for 3.5 years .. We have 3 pcs on a Network connected to two different ADSL suppliers and have NEVER had a virus get through..

Simple don't open attachments from any email you aren't expecting and save it - then test it with your - daily - updated a/virus pc and your DAILY - Microsoft Windowed - pc .. !

Surprised you didn't say - buy a Mac ;)...
