It's in the midde of Lefkosia. When I was over, we ate at a restaurant just inside the old walled city which you may like. It used to be either an old meat/veg market or the old slaughterhouse. I couldn't make out exactly what they were trying to tell us. It has huge high ceilings, a varied turkish menu, live music in the evening, and there are a lot of locals who eat there. I cannot remember the name of it though, but someone on here will know. Lovely food and reasonably priced too.

A small diner round the back of the Saray hotel - our office often goes there at lunchtime. Otherwise tradional Spanish and Italian down by the central mosque/cathedral by the market. Ok not local food but nice place, good food and atmosphere. Also try Buyuk Han beside the market, some nice little places inside the courtyard. But not eaten a main meal there. HTH

There is a great little restaurant in the grounds of the Mosque. I'm not sure if it is open in the evenings and sorry don't know what it is called but the food was fab and the lovely lady there just gave us a bit of everything they had. All home cooked and delicious.

Thanks guys, off there tomorrow so we will try one of your recommendations. The one in the mosque sounds good (if they sell beer!)
