French navy seizes 11 pirates

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE 04.MAY.09

The French navy has arrested 11 pirates off the Somali coast. Two speedboats and a vessel with large quantities of ammunition were also seized.

On Saturday, Somali pirates hijacked a freighter with a 24-member Ukrainian crew.

They are also reported to have hijacked a boat used by the United Nations to transport vehicles and equipment.

They were the first successful hijackings in more than a week. The hijacking took place near the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean, some 1500 kilometres from the Somali coast.

The international flotilla patrolling the Gulf of Aden is forcing the pirates to change their sphere of operations. On Sunday morning the local coast guard arrested three pirates off the coast of the Seychelle

Dear Nige,

re msg 1

This is not the first time you brought this up - and you have had pretty detailed reasons from many members who realised these were some sort of "bait the cheese-eater" attempt...

WHY are you repeating your mistaken mantra ?

6 MMS i DO NOT WRITE THE NEWSPAPERS I am sure many members are interested in the piracy and how come some nations obey un mandadtes and why some do not.

you seem to see this reporting as antagonistic .

Some would say your continual references to un resolutions ane dchr judgements are antagonistic

Is this another case of a cake and eat it ?

No reply needed the question is rhetorical.

RE msg 6, Littlenige > i DO NOT WRITE THE NEWSPAPERS <

=> Indeed and praise all higher beings for that!

The headline you wrote: "the french can do it the usa can do it the rusians can do it". The problem is you can't.

Keep trying, Nige. Your postings always make me laugh.

PS. You tend to forget to inform your own board members about the breaking news you provide here.

Nige! Look what I found for you - on your own site of all places (you should spend more time there)!

(...) It is not possible to add a spell checker to the forum at this time however (...)

(...) Failing all of the above A bit of a roundabout way but you can always type your message in Word and cut and paste onto the board after using the spell check there (...)

(...) Always Happy to help. Nige (...)

Always happy to help. Hans

Dear Nige, re msg 6

"you seem to see this reporting as antagonistic "

No I see it as baiting one particular member - who happens to be Dutch - I'm asking you - as the Dutch are accepted as the international arbitrators, in Courts that try War Crimes, why you think they aren't up to the job?

Tell us please - What exactly is the rules of engagement that the Dutch and other Navies have to obey? What - legally -could / should the Dutch have done different ?

The French did a damn good job in Auckland blowing up a ship, killing a Portuguese and the UN let them off!!! So much for International terrorism!

RE msg 13, Littlenige > I shall continue to report " interesting " news without bias <

=> In a nutshell about the "reporting" ethics of webmaster Littlenige.

1: Copy and paste "interesting" news from an official source.

2: Avoid (trying) to understand the backgrounds of the news.

3: Add your own comment without saying or indicating so.

4: Publish the "interesting" news on this board but *not* on your own board.

5: Demand "apologies" when you get comments you don't like.

So much for the reporting of "interesting" news on this board by the webmaster of the North Cyprus Forum.

I join AJ in the laughter.

Nige, you're obviously to busy to publish your unbiased, "interesting" news on this site - so I've done it for you on your own site. Have a nice and busy day!

Nige - the French are holding the pirates whilst awaiting instructions from the EU Forces. It may be that they too will have to let them go. Don't blame the Dutch, they were just following orders - Blame the EU.
