Average price for a new scooter is between £1300 & £1500. What would be the price from uk if you import one no idea.

they tax the moped in the same way as they would tax a car.

41% tax on the car's local value (around 41%), then around 2000USD one off payment (i dont know what this is for).

Then you need to pay to get it registered locally. Then there's the transport of the motor.

You can pick up a 100cc for around £850 off of ebay......but Put the taxes on, and you're better off buying one locally.

I have had 1300cc down to a Honda 100cc on the back of my campervan. Anything less than 250cc sucha Majestic will be hard going if you want to do more than a dozen miles at a time. I looked at importing my Handa 100cc before I sold it and gave up on the idea as the purchase of a new one in TC was the same price as importing. If I remeber there is a very large bike shop in Kyrenia on the road out towards the Essentepe branch off, looked realy classy with some harly kit on the front, but prices "ouch"

Msg 24 I don't want to dampen your spirits but importing from India is just as bad as importing from China, I know 2 people that bought bikes from India and both lasted a couple of months.

Hey Scoot

Sounds like Bangladeshi quality with Swedish prices, thought them rusting relics on the Nicosia Rd belonged to you? The biggest chinise cemetry in Cyprus.

Yeah, those Taiwanese scooters of D.N. are definatley Jap quality infact I understand the "Big 4" Jap manufactures don't manufacture bikes under 125cc in Japan, it is economically unfeasable. They do however build bikes in Taiwan (the Yamaha BWS100's for example) and India (Honda's Activa) and China (Yamaha YBR125, Suzuki GN125). What I said earlier in this "discussion" was that DN's bikes were Jap quality and I stress, never said they were built in Japan.

After owning, riding and maintaining bikes for more than 30 years, some Chinese (PRC) bikes are really terrible quality. The metals used are poor finish (break easily and corrode quickly) and rubber/plastics perish prematurely especially in the Cyprus sun. Another problem is trying to source parts for them. In my opinion its better pay a few extra £'s for better quality and have peace of mind.

I do agree with cyprusharvey that brand names are better quality then chinesse, unfortunatly so many products are manufactured in china. Some are built to a high standard, some are built very poor. The key to any scooter you purchase should have the back up service and spare parts available.

We at The Motorbike Shop, have instock complete parts from switches and buttons to complete engines and chassis, any part big or small we have and in the rare chance that we don't have we can have delivered in just 3 days.

We also have access to other parts/ accessories for scooters and bikes that are used in cyprus, which we didn't originaly sell. (new and old alike) 50cc scooters upto Honda goldwing................
