many posts on the forum suggest that tc's are being pushed around.

How in the world they get this idea?

Please justify your answers.........

Quite right. TCs re not being pushed around. Its that everyone else from EU countries are being pushed around by both EU decisions and the vile tactics of the TRNC ruling elite - especially in property matters.

And let's not forget most TCs didn't know or care about the Orams and will soon forget.. In any Cyprus settlement the same will probably apply.

You are quite right most TCs did not know or care about the Orams situation but they had better wake up to the fact that this ECJ judgement affects them as well. This judgement spells the end of a solution to the CY problem in anyway that the TCs thought they might achieve

Many TCs who were given exchange land and have now built there homes or substantially improved their dwelling will now lose it potentially

Even though foreign purchasers do not get the sympathy vote if a TC has sold them exchange land and the purchaser is sued by a GC then the foreigner can go after assets the TC may have in the south or even after the assets of officials estate agents or government ministers who have sanctioned the sale of the property to them. There would be no time limit so even if they have no assets in the south currently if cyprus was unifed they could then pursue them for their assets in the north

The legal route is a minefield with only the LAWYERS winning

Desr BB. re msg 7

1/ You'll find this ironic - considering my alleged "bias" - but I'm quite sure TCs are "safe".. This was a VERY personal action by a GC who was mad at a UK family thinking they could behave as if they were beyond the law.

2/ IF you read the comment of Christofias he is saying that Courts aren't the right way to solve the CY problem .

3/ I keep saying that this case will actually focus minds on the importance of a settlement as this ruling will ( for sure) screw up the already dormant property market in "TRNC".

I STILL think the Apostolides v Orams case has more twists ahead. No matter what the outcome - it won't get folk back living in their houses or their land back...

I STILL think the solution will mean losing freehold "title" for many or an *agreed* swap.
