Just got back from a rare shopping trip down south where I purchased an excellent portable gazebo with curtains and fly screens for the princely sum of 119Euros. They have been reduced from 145 Euros.

Similar types in the Girne area will set you back between 900 and 1200 Lira.

Hi HH thats good news . We have been looking at one here and was in excess of 1000TL. Mind you with these winds last couple of days wouldnt rate their chances. Worth taking a look at though. xxx

Went South yesterday Sarah and got furniture (display cabinets) - had to lie seats down in car to get them in. Had to move my seat (passenger) so far forward - i felt like a bonnet motif i was sitting that far forward !! Got to border and was expecting to be checked by customs - especially as they were laughing as i tried to get out of the seat to give our passports in. Houdini - who's he ?

No problem what so ever - i did notice they were checking most South plated cars though.

See you soon. Kim

Hi,

Never been stopped bringing things in, always make sure whatever I but fits in car with no doors or windows needing to be left open to aloow item to fit. Also like previous posting if necessary lay down seats, even if wife has to sit in back so item can slide onto front seat. Try to make sure not at front of queue when passports being stamped so vehicle is never closely looked at. If stopped, am willing to hold hands up and either play dumb not aware not allowed, pay excesses or have item confiscated etc. However warning about IKES, it is very expensive looking at childs bed, in uk catalouge was £64 over border same bed is €134!!!
