Linthorpe area, went to Winney Banks, moved on and on and on and on now in Ozankoy. Not many memories as left at 15 years old and never really went back - but still remember Newbolds pork pies (mini ones) and the gravy along with the Ducks and Peas! Saturday mornings in the stone pool in town then out for battered sausages and chips before catching the P bus back home - or walking back from Thornaby baths through the old airodrome and across the fields - guess all that has long gone now. Remember the Black Path through the steel works to get to the North Gare and the fishing off the end of that dodgy concrete mess? Mick

Hi all, I'm from Darlo, although I did work in Linthorpe Road for several years. I didn't realise there were so many northeasterners in the TRNC. EEh! Newbolds pork pies takes me back and ducks and peas lovely. Does anybody remember carlings at easter? I have tried explaining these to some friends but it is difficult explaining what they were. Does anybody know? They were like black peas and were fried in beef dripping and then eaten with salt and vinegar. The butlers wife

Hi Kitty Kat jac, I am pleased somebody else remembers carlings but do you know what they are? I also remember going to country fairs at Lartington Hall, just outside of Barnard Castle. Like you, I still think Taylors pork pies are the best and their peas pudding is to die for. When hubby and I lived in Italy, I used to dream of the pork pies from Taylors. Where do you live in the TRNC East or West of Kyrenia? The butlers wife

I am retiring in July and plan to split my time about equally between Whitby and Girne. Any Boro supporters out there? Rats and sinking ships springs to mind. I feel very sorry for Gareth as he seems to be a very genuine person. Oh well, there is always next season!
