Wetherspoons have been selling Efes for a couple of years now. You can sometimes get it at Makro as well.

Its ok as a drink but If I was ever drinking in weatherspoons with all the towns Drongos and road workers in yellow jackets, I can think of 10 other pints I'd have first!

My my James you must live in a pretty rough area, I haven't seen any of the types you mention, having said that I haven't been in any of our Wetherspoons after about 10p.m. I can certainly imagine that there will be a lot of drongos after then.

Mind you from what I can gather most town centres etc are a bit (no a lot) like war zones after 10-11 p.m.

Don't get me wrong Peter I'm all in favour of the weatherspoon pubs, instead of having all the towns drunks spread around town, now they all seem to go there for the cheap beer and special offers. Kind of a care in the community scheme I think!

Also available at our local Tesco (Bury St Edmunds) although last time I bought some in there, was quite expensive; possibly not as expensive as our local Turkish restaurant, where, 3 weeks ago, it was £2.50 for a (very) small glass. They did not even bring it by the bottle! Said restaurant has since closed down.

Hi all

You can buy Effes from Makro for usually £9.99 plus vat for 24 bottles, they also stock the litre bottles for around £12 for 16 bottles.

At Christmas, Makro were selling a gift pack of 4 bottles and 2 glasses for only £2.49, guess what, I bought loads

Happy days

Loobie444, do you actually like the stuff or do you buy it because it reminds you of happy days? Personally I find it too gassy and prefer the Efes extra.

Hi. In spite of having once held the Ozankoy Efes Drinkers all-comers record, I must have led a sheltered life (I know, bus shelters, air raid shelters........) What is a drongo?

From Wiki

In Australian slang, "drongo" means a loser or idiot. As in most slang the meaning changes with the way it is said. In the Bush Dance, sometimes called the Drongo, the person who misses out on a partner (musical chairs style) becomes 'the drongo' for the next time through the dance and is the butt of a gentle humorous use of the word. On the other hand, a waiter who spills hot soup in a customer's lap may hear a distinctly vitriolic use!
