Joey Barton is a thug, however can you expect Newcastle to just write off 5.5m in their position? They are more likely to sell him to Blackburn for around 3.5m to 4m in the summer. Thius will put him nearer to his Liverpool home were he has already got a reputation as a thug along with his brother.



He should have been banned for life by the footballing authorities after he stubbed a cigar into the eye of a Manchester City trainee a few years ago!!

Joey Barton is a thug. However I bet he'll be playing in the Premiership next season. Personally, I'd sack him. The FA should take away his registration because he brings football into disrepute.

gerrard isn't. He comes from a very good family. He is definitely not a thug at all. I know somebody who witnessed the entire incident in southport in the lounge bar. All gerrard did was try to calm the situation down. He is a decent bloke. Comparing him to joey Barton is outrageous.

I saw that Colleen Nolan on that dancing programme on the tv. I did'nt like the way she was looking the judges. I didn't know she went to school with Barton and Gerrard though

Msg 9- I totally agree. Until the FA will take action [assuming they're allowed to prevent someone, even as vile as Barton from making a living at football], there will always be some club desperate to get a cheap buy who might come good.



We've all heard time and time again Barton's excuses and that he appreciates he's drinking at the Last Chance Saloon, but it doesn't make any difference. His registration should be cancelled, as simple as that.



As for msg 3, if you're a Rovers fan, you must be stark staring bonkers to want Barton, unless you've got a job for him sweeping up.

As a lifelong Toon fan I'm ashamed that he's been kept on our books, but this time he's been suspended by Shearer and he'll not play for us again. Some club will buy him though & big Sam's welcome to him. Ironically Barton himself was on the end of a similar challenge to that which he perpetrated on Alonso when Cattermole from Wigan cleaned him out at St.James's Park earlier this year - the result - Barton was out for 2 months and Cattermole was not even booked for the challenge!!
