Seems like entry into Europe has been a poison challace for the South. Buisinesses in South resorts say tourist numbers are at their lowest for years, prices have escalated to the point of stupidity. Property market stagnent, expats returning to Uk as pensions no longer sustain living costs, even the drug dealers are moving from Slagger Napa to Sharm for the summer season.

So why does the North want to even talk to the South, can only be a recipe for diasaster, stay away from the bumbleing Euro zone thats what Dixie says.

Here, here!! Well said DN.

We have always felt that the North just needs to be recognised so that they can trade with the rest of the world, have direct flights etc but not join the EU.

Wouldn’t want the TRNC to join EU. It would be the end to lush tasting tomatoes. Since the UK joined all that’s available are orange tomatoes (not red) all the same size but absolutely no taste.

We normally come over 5 to 6 times a year and until the south started using the Euro we would go to Carefour at least once a trip for our shopping, but went last march and found the price of food had went thru the roof

and now with the pound euro exchange rate it must be even worse.

This year there tourist industry will really suffer with the euro

Yes keep the tasty tomatoes---

and the tasty bank interest rates which if in the eurozone would be even worse than the UK is currently.

Eurozone residents need somewhere outside their economy to visit for recreation, so let it be TRNC giving it a stability it deserves.

Couldnt agree more with you , I'll give you an example of crazy pricing.

Needed a genuine Ford part for my car, these are 3 quotes for the same part.

Cangar Ford Dealer Lefkosia (TRNC)..................................80 Euros.

Main Ford Dealer Nicosia (ROC)........................................ 95 Euros

Ford Dealer UK, including post and delivery to UK address...£25.

What is that all about?

My world fell apart when the friendly Russian ladies put their drink prices up, cant even afford a wink never mind a w***, have had to start being nice to the missus again, costly, but not as costly princess Nadina and the girls.

Was in Alfamega in January, punnet imported strawberries €5, same size in UK £1. Spanish oranges €1 each. Why on earth does Cyprus need to import fruit when it is on the island in huge amounts, in many cases just falling off the trees and rotting?
