I may be an old Cynic but for a businessman from London your grammar, spelling and use of idiom is very poor. I am therefore unable to take your glowing recommendation at face value. If I am wrong then let me apologise now for my rampant intellectual little englander snobbery.

Oh well, I suspect that this posting will not have the desired effect.

I only read this post as my curiosity needed satisfaction when I saw the post heading and the spelling thereon. I was not disappointed! What kind of schools do these people go to?!

Why didnt you just advertise the Restaurant properly instead of making up some stupid story that no one believes anyway? You have done yourself no favours.

You may be having some interest now, but it is for all the wrong reasons.

Not all publicity is good publicity you know.

As a matter of interest and nothing to do with this restaurant I hasten to add, I read In Cyprus Today that 4 Brits were taken to hospital, seriously ill after eating fish in a Girne restuarant. Anyone know which one?

I do know rtddci but wouldnt like to put it on here for fear of sounding catty. They were given Puffer fish when the waiter told them it was monk fish. They were in a pretty bad way. The reason I know they were treated and sent to hospital by the doctor I use. I beleive he is taking the matter further .

Lilli

I think something as serious as this should be made public. The restuarant in question should make a statement at least and local health officials should be taking action.

Msg 14.....I don't think people are being snotty about your English....more about your story and whether it is genuine.

Steve Marsh DOES sound a very English name though !

rtddci Msg 12 Apparently it was a place called The Fisherman's in Girne. I understand Lapta Mike knows more as he was in same ward as the affected people. Poor folk only came for 1 week and spent half of it in Hospital!

Providing Tunay is still the owner I would recomend the Fishermans because He only cooks white boneless fish, does not have a waiter, never had monkfish on the menu in the 10 yrs I have been going. But He is up for sale, perhaps He's sold.I shall be over soon.

If it is the fishermans friend, then I am very suprised. This is a very well know restaurant run by a fisherman who would know the differance between a Monk fish and a puffer fish. Even I would and I don't even like fish. Unless we are sure which place it was let not name names until more information comes to light. As said before the doctor is takig it further so we should have some information soon.

Hi Steve,

I absolutely love curries and to be honest, was wondering, once in Cyprus, how I was going to do without having my monthly "fix".

Whereabouts is the Punjab Restaurant located and do you recall how much the bill was for two people?

Heh! Don't take all the negative comments to heart - I have worked as a secretary for a very long time and many, even on director level, were not always good at spelling.
