I had an interesting conversation with a Turkish Cypriot guy last week, he said that England is a bad country, full of crime, stabbings and so on, but we have a very good system.



When I asked what he meant by a very good system, he replied... 'In England you don't have to work, but still get paid. I wish we had a similar system in N Cyprus'

rtddci you are so right. I only wish that the poor people here had some sort of state help. How they manage is beyond me. Only Xmas time a family of mainland turks had thier house burned. We ralley round by providing food clothes bedding etc. They rely on the community which is not a bad thing but you see the cypriots working 8 till midday and can retire on a pension from 50 . its sad that if they belong to turkey why cant a social system be in place for these people. There are no charties here to help. I have tried to find out to set one up but the red tape is too long. This poor family were given comfort and help mostly from the expats and the hlp of thier neighbours who are probably equally as poor. It makes one feel very humble xxx

It's like a mini version of modern britain under Mc Broon and co,if you're in the establishment,fill your boots folks !!! If you're a private sector worker,tough....
