Has anyone tried heating a pool using solar? Is it effective and how expensive? Anyone know of any local companies around Kyrenia who offer this service? I am looking to extend the pool season by a month or so at either end of the season. Apologies if this question has already been asked/answered but couldn't find anything when i searched the forum. Best wishes Stegill

We have solar pool heating. We fitted them to our 5 villas to extend the letting season, great success. We usually aim for what is called 10/10 that is 10 weeks each end of the season extra. The number of panels required depends on pool size, location, overflow or skimmer and how much you wish to extend the season. This year has been slow to get to the levels of solar radiation we should have had by now but a few more days like today should get them up to 28 degrees, our target. The system is automatic and uses the pool pump to push the water through the panels when they are hotter than the pool. Location of the panels is important as they are quite large but call Cyprus Solutions (John) on 0533 836 7094 or cyprussolutions@hotmail.com as we have just shipped in another load of panels this last week.

Regards

Nick

Mark,

I think there was a thread on solar pool covers a couple of weeks ago but just for my info, are they available here and if so, where, and purchase price for a 10x5m pool?

Thanks in advance
