Hi proger, A couple of years ago the courtyard inn used to be a good meeting place for brits, don't know if this is still the case. Out at Esententepe all the bars and restaurants are full of brits but it is a long way to drive from Kyrenia. I am sure other members of this forum will be able to advise you. The butlers wife.

Thanks for nothing Richard, perfectly simple question that you turned into advising me how to treat my marital relationship, who to have as friends and then my poor grammar. I am a Scotsman with a 3rd degree education and a basic question to ask, help would be good, criticism not so much

East of Girne, you could try 'The Fez' at Catalkoy, pronounced Chatalker. Expats frequent this establishment, food bar music etc. Before the Fez is Courtyard for an excellent curry, cosy bar and nice restaurant. Could try a Casino, plenty of Brits go, usually free food and drink and spend a few lira in the machines. Jasmine court Hotel, The Mercure, and merit Crystal Cove to name a few. Ozankoy village have quite a few eatery's, most definitely should meet Brits there. I live on west of Girne in Karsiyaka so bit far out, but there is Mambos bar at Alsancak, Hotel Simena at Karsiyaka, Quiz night Friday (full of Brits) saturday music/kareoke . Good place to meet people is at the Chateau Lambousa Craft market on Saturday mornings 9-1pm Lapta Jessics Bar Lapta strip, hope this helps, good luck.

Hi proger1 "would like to know where it would be good to meet expats, british or russian" i assume your meeting place means a Pub / Bar. As mentioned above, Fez, Courtyard, you will meet expats almost anywhere in TRNC, we have. There are Russians over here, but not sure where you would meet them :-( Just nip out now and again for a wee dram, you'll meet all sorts, Gid Luck, Navek

I'd go along to the Pia Bella hotel, Tues 12 noon. You will meet really useful and interesting people who will give great advice. Also try Pegasus bar, next to the Lemar supermarket and Burger City on the Lapta Road west of Kyrenia.

JK's bar in Lapta best place for meeting friendly ex pats. Lots of Scots there as well. Get the dolmus to drop you off at Flippers Holiday Village. Cross the road and it is about 20yards along here on the left.

Erols is in Ozankoy. The Courtyard is on the Girne Catalkoy road signposted you turn off right if heading out of Girne. The Grapevine is up the road from the Colony going out of town on left by petrol station. The Stroll Inn is supposed to have plenty of Brits on left again heading towards Catalkoy. Most places in Bellapais offer free taxi service, Bella Moon, Tree of Idleness they are restaurants but you can just sit and drink. The Fez I think is very clicky.

Park Lane in Alsancak Today, Sunday 1pm till 3pm is 'Happy Hour', all drinks half price except Brandy Sour when it is always Happy Hour at Park Lane - Brandy Sour is ALWAYS TL5 at Park Lane. Lovely surroundings, mountain views, fine restaurant, free swimming pool and facilitiesn, pool table away from the bar and restaurant areas. Off main road so no traffic noise. Otherwise, Karaoke with OzzieB every Thursday from 7.30pm together with Turkish Belly dancer/ Also Happy Hour every Saturday from 6pm till 8pm. Turn left at the Golden Lady, then left again at the Cyprus Queen (Corner Bar), then right at the roundabout and first right. Just one minute from the Golden Lady. Rose

Not really advice for meeting folks but If you like a little dancing then the Neo Bar/Club in central Kyrenia has a Russian night on Tuesdays. They lay it on for the casino staff but everyone is welcome. I believe they play Russian dance music. To find the Neo Bar, find your way to the electric office (where you pay your bills), turn around and you will see a road that leads to a car park. Neo Bar is on the right hand side at the end of the road. Just around the corner is Cream Bar that can also get rather busy. Do note that the clubs dont get rocking till 12am or 1am.

Now that's just begging for it: Park Lane of Course: http://www.flickr.com/photos/parklanenortherncyprus/ If you just want to chin wag then between 5.00pm and 7.00pm is a good time to catch the regulars. If you bring some fish you can have fun chucking it at Vaughan as he has his regular evening basking session in the pool.

Hi Proger 1, in Girne a few places to meet expats. Through the day, windows bar and cafe rouge in the main square are quite popular. Later the Watermill/Baxters bar, opposite Ezic chicken is a popular place, bingo Wednesdays upstairs. quiz Friday downstairs ( don;t order Brandy Sour, Gary can't make it) Another good place is Back in Time, run by Mike and Trish, lovely setting overlooking he sea, pass Astro heading towards Lapta, turn right and go down to sea, right along front and Back in Time is on right just after car park areas,
