Book your holiday, Normando, as the new course is due to open any day now! Most folks here in TRNC call it the Essentepe Golf Course, but officially it's the Korineum Golf and Country Club now - very posh! I got an email from them the other day; good information, not so good English grammar, but hey!

"Korineum Golf and Country Club is proud to be the first 18 hole golf course in TRNC. The Academy Section has 3 Academy holes, driving range with 34 bays and a variety of short game practice areas. Also lessons are available at Academy from one of our fully qualified P.G.A Professionals. Another section of the course is Club House, which is still under construction at the present time. Club House offers a great deal more than the usual pro-shop and members lounge. It has variety of restaurants and bars, also there is spa, beauty saloon and fitness center at the same building.

I would like to inform you that our membership is now open. If you have any further inquiries please don’t hesitate to contact us or visit our official web site http://www.korineumgolf.com (under construction). Our contact number is 00903926001500 , fax number is 00903926001515"

I think the golf club will be a great tourist draw for TRNC; with the great climate here it's ideal for golfing, and the new club's setting is stunning. They need to get their web site up and running asap, though.

There's an article on this web site about it, as you'd expect, but it needs to be updated with the new name!

Just read some fascinating facts about North Cyprus' new golf course, for all you geeks out there! All the water needed for the course's 1400 sprinklers comes from two artificial lakes that can store 30,000 cubic metres of desalinated water. The course itself is planted with specially imported 'Seashore Paspaluma' grass seed (from the US, no less) as this grass requires 65% less water than usual grasses used on other European golf courses. So, I guess you could say these greens in North Cyprus are really ecologically 'green' too! Club President Dr. Gunay Cerkez is obviously pleased too; in his welcome speech he said "It was my greatest desire to create this resort on this land where blue meets green; where people can drift away from stress and feel elated." Golf, stress-free? Not playing with my boss, it's not!!

Golfkid,

You may find the membership prices here:

http://www.korineumgolf.com/membership.asp?subpage=membership.price

For 7 day full membership, the joining fee is £1600.

They have lockers in the club house but because they are limited, i was informed (during my first visit) that you cannot keep them. every time you come, you need to get a key from the pro shop.

There was a competition yesterday so i guess there are competitions now and then. I believe butterfly can give more details.

Hello all the keen golfers,

Sorry couldn't answer your questions as I was very busy.

First of all I like to inform you about our new promotion. We give 10 hours Golf Lessons for free if you choose one of the golf membership options apart from Junior,Leisure and Academy Memberships. If you were interest in to join, I think its right time for it. But hurry up,because that will be current untill 7th of April. Also the Green Fees for weekends and weekdays cost the same untill 31st of March.( For the 9 Hole is 30 Stg , 18 Hole is 55 Stg. )

About your questions,

* Yes you can reserve your membership as long as you fill the Application form.

* We have lockers, but for daily use only and they are free of charge.

* We do competions and tournaments. Infact there was our first competion last Saturday and it went very good.

* Yes there is a Fitness Center at the Club House. We have got another membership options for the Fitness Center which we call it Leisure Membership. Leisure Membership costs 350 Stg for a year. If you not a member and want to use the Fitness Center it costs you 6 Stg for a day.

Hi Golfkid,

In the absence of any other info I can advise that Korineum is a commercial enterprise. It will have a committee of sorts but will only consist of elements of the business management team, Club Professional, Captains and a couple of co-opted members. I believe only the Captains will be elected, which is fair enough as it is not a 'Members Club' where the members own a share of the club.

The management team a learning all the time and do listen to the members but in the end they are running a business with its own priorities.

Sorry I can't help regarding third party insurance, we have our own.

Dear Coffer,

Thank you for your reply I was following the thread with interest and looking forward to the reply from the 'Public Relations Executive' if of course she isnt too busy.

I think the questions posed were very interesting and ones that a lot of people would like to see addressed.

And when she answers those could she also answer the question where are the missing original 100,1000 pound memberships because I spoke to somebody yesterday that paid 1600 pounds for joining fee and the membership is still not 100.

Further more the perameters seem to have changed you now get 10 free lessons when you join what about the original members?

Or again is the viel of mysticism again being pulled similar to what was happening when the course was being biult.

Dear Butterfly

I was wondering IF you are going to answer the outstanding questions.

Does the club carry 3rd party insurance?

Is it a properly constituted golf club with an elected committe (coffer said it was an comericial enterprise) there are many golf clubs attached to hotels and country clubs in the UK they still have a committee together with the management)

What competions are being planned and when?

What about the free lessons now being offered what are you going to offer your excisting members?

What about the missing intial 1000 stg memberships.

Does golf membership entitle you to use the Gym?
