Hye all

Been back a couple of days now and so glad the papers had the weather forecast wrong ! it is lovely.

Had a very pleasant surprise today at The Grove (on the main road towards Catalkoy). Choice of starters and a main course or main course and dessert for only 15 TL. They have reduced their prices for Sunday Lunch in hope more people try them. It certainly makes a change to increasing prices because not enough customers !!!

The menu was ( as far as i can reacall - nothing to do with Efes honest)

Starters - soup/pate/stuffed aubergine/veggie crepe or bhajis.

Main - Roast (lamb/beef.chicken) with usual trimmings or Curry and usual trimmings.

Dessert - banoffe pie/apple pie/choc gateaux/sticky toffee pud

There were quite a few in there and the meal was very nice.I think they serve it from 12 -4pm. Very good value for money i thought.

The Khyber pass is getting very interesting now, all we want now is the Taleban offering housing sales with no catches!

Don't understand skybluesam reply - i read it as a dig at Pakistanis (of which there are many here who still have family back in Pakistan and are very worried about the increasing troubles) - and Talibans have nothing to do with price of meals here in TRNC !!!! Unless you know differant.

We stopped going to The Grove for meals as it had lost a lot of its atmosphere (and customers). But had family our last month and decided to give it another go. The meal was lovely - staff very attentive - crowd of people in there were really friendly. All in all we had 3 nice meals/evenings so was pleased that we decided to go back. We haven't been for Sunday Lunch but thier Weds night with Anna are packed - we hadn;t booked and were turned away the other week. At least by doing special offers they are trying to be competetive and trying to encourage business. Good luck to them.

I went for suday lunch at the Grove this weekend - 7 of us. Food great/ rare beef if you want it and very good value at 15 YTL

Alshaheens is also very good - if you want rare beef - you have to order in advance but food excellent and they will also do roast carrots

Yes would agree with cornish. Not been to the Grove for a while but food was always great. Lots of it and never a problem to ask for more. Shame the atmosphere died a bit but think it is picking up again. 15 TL is a good price. The food is always good at Rafters and obviously you can't fault Erols. Great food.

The market is obviously very competitive at the moment and no doubt many ex-pats are only going out once a week or so. Sunday lunch may be one of those occasions and restaurants need to attract them. Competition is always good. Lets see who else can do a similar Sunday lunch for 15TL.
