Imagine you live in say, France, Uk Belgium, Germany, and was paying a monthly standing charge for water BUT.... was not receiving any water, would this be acceptable, I think not.

So why do Lapta Beledeye think it is acceptable to do just that....

Answer.... Because they can.

We have bought tankers of water for over 2 years at a cost to ourselves of 500/600 pounds a year. WHY?

Because we have problems with pressure (25 houses) Yes... we went over to Lapta in Dec/Jan from Karsiyaka and they knew we had a problem but we did manage to get a little mains water Jan/feb/mar but April none and May none, their reasoning is: It is summer now so pressure is low, they say they are aware of the problem but phone call after phone call from several of us gets us nowhere.

Is there an Ombudsman or similar. We are going en masse tomorrow with a delegation, will it make any difference, I very much doubt it.

Standing charge 25 villas x 15 tl per month for nil water is daylight robbery.

Better still they have the water.... they should bring us 2 ton of water a week in one of their tankers.... problem solved until they sort the problem out.

Who am I kidding

I agree Lilli, It is about time they were held accountable, they are so quick to put the charges in place but not so to deliver the service.

It really incenses me when you drive through the villages and see people hoseing down their garden paths and patio's. I can't do that, I boil a pan of water to wash up, my plants are blowing bubbles as they only get my washing up water. There doesn't seem to be any shortages in the villages, I think when you are on the seaide or away from the villages you get forgotten.

Lilli, a water tanker driver once told me it was getting bad as he had to pay 17 lira to a well owner for 18 to 20 ton of water. I said, that is unfair paying so little to the well owner, he said 'i have to pay my fuel and my workers. mmmm, and charge us 200 lira for the water.

Locals get no preferential treatment. they have exactly the same problems we do. I'm married to one - so I think I know !!! Also - if you go with a positive attitude to the Belidiye - they will try and help you. If you haven't yet made the effort to speak their language in their country - then take someone with you who can. the improvements here in the last 5 years have been amazing and strangely enough prices have gone up. Perhaps - those that protest too much would find the prices in the UK more to their likeing and the services of course - which are diminishing day day !!

We have had the same problem in Arapkoy and we have gone to the bellydancers armed and dangerous, we even took the press with us, all arranged by SaraP our resident rotti ..the catalkoy bellydancers lied through their teeth promising us water, they are a joke and we for one are not paying our standing charge of 10 lira a month for air.

Something has to be done about this...strangely all the ppl in the village get water everyday..this is total discrimination toward the brits.

Cornish....

I did go to the Beledeye, and was told they would have a meeting about the problem and would definitely call me with the outcome. Guess what... no call.

That was 12 days ago, I have called since but no luck. and I do try to speak the language and go armed with my Dictionary, and i wrote down in turkish, name, address, how long the problem has gone on for etc. phone no.
