Years ago I drove down past Ercan on what would be the old Larnaca/Nicosia road and eventually came to a road block. Is this where they mean?

If you look at the green line, it runs roughly east/west, apart from a point south of Ercan, where a long thin finger heads south. This cuts across the old Nicosia/Larnaca road. The villages mentioned (both sides of the green line), have to go to Nicosia ( in the case of the TC villages to the opposite side of Nicosia), to join the motorway system for Larnaca), which adds considerably to their journey time. A similar argument is going on for an additional crossing point at the west, which would probably save about an hour and a half on the journey between Nicosia and Polis, and an hour between Nicosia and Paphos. Both communities locally want the crossings opened, but as always, the politicians have their own agendas. Ian

unfortunatly it is Turkey that have the say on weather to open the crossing point, it would mean them having to remove there troops from around the area, the green party & the RoC goverment want it opened.

Just seems to me that it would be a chance for Turkey to gain some brownie points by allowing the crossing to open. But on the other hand why should they when the gcs wont make any concessions on anything. Its the irresitable force against the immovable object.STALEMATE, G.

Newlad. Even if they opened it, you still wouldn't be able to find your way there! See you in Sept. The offer still stands.
