I live near to the cemetary in Lapta and there was a lot of police activity last night up on the mountain behind my house (near the belediye tip!) I've been watching BRT news this morning and all I can work out is that some guy has died or been killed! The headline in Kibris says Suspicious Death!

Can anyone shed any light or translate the article?

This is very scarey I live near this site and there was alot of activity last night by our house, there were police and also helicopters going about. We were sitting in our front room last night and i saw a light (touch type light) come on and off of our patio area and when we let the dog out he acted all strange and could smell something on our veranda.

Does anyone know if they have court this person???

We have a saying in Turkish: Su testisi su yolunda kırılır.

Literally translated, it says: The water jug is broken on the route for carrying water.

The Person found dead was involved in other killings and he was a major suspect. Let us say it was a Mafia type job.

PS: This is just an explanation and not an excuse or justification for anything. I found this note necessarry based on my past experience.

Somebody that worked close with him called this morning saying that he was burnt in his car or at least killed in his car. His old car caught fire a month or so ago near to the chinesse restaurant on your way into girne from lapta side. That was a BMW X5.................................

No need to worry if your not involved with people like that. I can confirm and agree with message 5

Hi elko,

msg 5.

Is that saying like the English one-

"You can take a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead?"

It makes about as much sense.

Oh dear dear, how confusing it must be for those not used to think deviously

In the old days they did not have running water in the houses. There would be one or two public fountains in the village. Actually it was a good place for young boys and girls to meet and flirt. ok, lets get back to the subject.

People obtained their drinking water from the same fountains and they would all bring their water jugs to fill them up. So the chances are that the jug would crack or become useless or broken between home and the fountain, where else? So it means that if you get involved in dirty matters, you can expect to get killed somewhere along the line. Ain't it?

No need to worry, we just happen to live in a quiet (!?) area that was perfect for this guy to have a 'accident'.

Official line is he lost control of his car and crashed into a wall!

We all know this is quite unlikely but there you go!

All part of the "Keep Cyprus Clean" operation perhaps!!??

Good morning Steve.

According to a local Turkish newspaper he was a guy called Erol Yucal who had spent time in prison for several crimes including the bombing of a night club in June 2008.

Police are still investigating whether it was an accident or not!!

McSteviet - With respect, is it wise to give the exact location of where a woman is living alone? Most especially if there is a chance of some nefarious activities taking place at that location........................

A well known villan on the Island. At a court case a while ago he was charged with attacking 'a hostess' when he was in court he stated 'I have killed people and planted bombs, but never, ever hit a woman' he was free to go. I would not be afraid if you are people who do not mix with this type of offender - live by the sword - die by the sword.
