You have to remember that this is a new country, it is not the Uk and nothing happens quick here. Don't try and do to much at once. If you need to go to the bank and the tax office, don't try and do them both in one day, or else you will just end up frustrated, as everything seems to take forever. There is a lot of red tape here and this sometimes becomes tedious. If you can learn to live with this, you will be alright as the people are lovely and usually the sun is shining.

Think before you leap re living in NC. You are 64 and on your own it seems. You also need to work you say to top up your pension. You can be just as lonely if not more so in NC and you will need a car. There is no NHS and although hospital charges are reasonable, you don't get looked after, it's expected your relatives will feed and look after you. Any form of employment in NC is hard to come by, even more so for us foreigners. You'll need a work permit from your employer and wages are very low. If you get a job you may well end up working long hours and wondering when you will get to live your dream. Hate to be realistic but really get upset to see someone heading for a fall and not saying something.
