i have now been downloading british television through a virtual private network for 2 weeks but it is very hit and miss whether i can get connected to my vpn i keep getting error 619 connection to the remote computer could not be established so the port was closed any advice would be greatly appreciated

There are 2 possible problems that would cause this .....



1 - A problem with the server you're trying to connect to. It might have limited connection ability and refuse connections when a maximum number (bandwidth based for instance) is reached. Test this by using the 'ping' command to see if the server is actually there. If it is, does it drop half way through the download or only refuse it when you first try to connect?



2 - Your own PC/connection. Start by ensuring your firewall is correctly configured for this particular service and then try other online services at the same time and see if they respond or not.



Based on what happens from the above suggestions you can start to narrow down and resolve the problem. Post what happens and I'll try to help if I can.

Try a locally supplied VPN and you will get help and support or, e-mail your present supplier and ask them for help.
