if you go to a dealer, when you get there, take a titanium stick with you, bend over his desk and he will beat the sh** out of you, buy private or bring a car here, take the above stick to the customs, and you will get the same result a sore ars* and bank balance

buy a car which should have, tax, mot and emmisions test already done.

then go with the owner to reg department, pay a fee(buyer usually pays) and then they put your name onto the log book.

you may need to purchase insurance for the car before this can be done, i'm not sure on that one, but you will need insurance anyway.

log book- blue document

mot- slip of paper

emmisions-slip of paper

road tax- disc printed on slip of paper.

i hope this helps!

Insurance - 3rd party - on my Freelander is 230TL a year, tax this year should be simple to work out if they don't change the rules again.

Take the kerb weight of the vehicle and multiply that by 0.90TL per Kilo if it is petrol or 1.0TL per Kilo if it is diesel. - Freelander (petrol) 1450Kg = 1305TL!

Other considerations are the age of the vehicle - not the actual age mind you but the amount of time it has been registered in the TRNC! There is a percentage reduction for vehicles over 5, 10 and 15 years of age but I can not remember what it is, sorry. May have been 10, 15 and 20% respectivley.

There is a percentage reduction for road tax for drivers who have not been issued a traffic violation for the past year and past two years, again can't remember but think it was 5% for one year and 10% for two years.

Say the above figures are correct and I am a perfect driver with a 10 year old car - my tax would be 1058TL this year. Easy, ain't it???
