Does any one know of any good second hand furniture shops nearly new type of stuff sofas white goods etc.

Also how easy is it to have furniture delivered from IKEA and the approximate cost. I have heard you would need to pay tax on these items though how much is that on average.

annie,

Unless you know someone who knows where the tunnel is - it is illegal to bring from the South, meat products, diary products and sadly furniture. I am aware that lots of people ignore this and do bring things over - some get away with it and some don't, its a bit luck of the draw but if you get caught then it is confiscation time at the least. Better to buy here either new or off the board and save the worry.

No I am not lilly white either!!

Thank you Fire starter

All the times I have been on the site and I have never noticed the sale board before.

I should be more observant.

Support the local economy as best you can. The Lira is more attractive than the Eu exchange. Second hand bargains are well supported on this site.

Yes we would much prefer to buy locally and second hand would probably suit our pocket better.

Thank you for your reply

There is a second hand furniture shop on left hand side of road from Girne to Catalkoy. It is opposite the shortcut to the Bellapais road there is a butcher on the corner. The shop has a canvas sign advertising furniture and often has washing machines outside.

Hi annie,

I don't think anyone has mentioned Amandas auctions in Ozonkoy. They advertise in Cyprus Today and I have heard that they now have a shop where you can buy furniture that hasn't sold at the auction.

Scooby

They used to be on a 'as and when' basis but are a bit more regular now. Viewing days are usually the Saturday before the Sunday auction.
