Jojoo,

Where do you live and what are your qualifications? Where did you study and do you have any work experience?

Right now I am living in Famagusta and I studied in eastern Mediterrranean university. Honestly i don't have any practical experience just i have academic experience and about my qualification which you asked me, exactly I do not know what do you mean but anytime you want more information I can email my cv to you.

Jojoo,

I live in Famagusta too. My daughter, Solen of Smart Plus is one of the best known interior architects in north Cyprus. She studied in Istanbul and when she was a student she worked at weekends at "Modoko" with over 400 showrooms. She and her friends spearheaded the shift towards modern furniture desing. After graduation she and her husband (classmates) opened their own showrooms there and after six years decided to relocate in Girne but their manufacturing continues in Istanbul. So now she is very busy designing modern furniture tailor made to customer's needs and also is involved in the design of the buildings (villas, restaurants, bars etc) to make them look more attractive and also more functional. She writes articles in interior design magazines on a regular basis. She has assistants who graduated from Girne and Famagusta. You better talk to her.

As far as I am concerned, practical experience is far more important than a diploma. You should look for employment to gain practical experience. Don't expect to be paid for your diploma, no matter where you get work, you will be paid for the work you actually do.

There are many with diplomas who are simply sales assistants in furniture shops. I suggest you find a place to work where they actually do "interior architecture" rather than just sales. Good luck. Please call me if you need more advice.

As you mentioned about experience you are completely right and this is what I am looking for and I don't expexct to be paid for my diploma so it is not important what is my diploma right now , what i am looking is to find a company that I work there any way I have to start from some where but unfortunatly it is hard to find employers which they accept non expreince employee.

Maybe for few months after but the fact that my family can not offer me to stay in Cyprus like this and definitely it would be hard for me as well.

Tommy,

If you pop over to Smart Plus Furniture you can ask them to show you the photographs of the houses they have designed. They are lucky to work with a very good photographer, so they have lots of photos they can show you. You know its all in the family. Some pictures can be seen here http://www.burcuustuner.com/EN/

Select gallery and then click on interior design for some examples.

Hello there was just reading the forum about a job in interior architecture and saw your post about your daughters business and that she is the top interior architect here!

I am studying for a degree interior architecture in england and have come here for the summer to stay with my family. I'm looking for some work of any kind before i go back and wondered if you there would be any chance of a job of some kind at Smart Plus? Would love to get some experience in this field of work.
