well actually its relative to different veiwpoints , some will say politically europe , geographicaly asia , some schools of thought would say its in eurasia , some would say its on the cusp .. if you look at a 2 dimensional world atlas not a globe , its the centre of the world ! some have called it the stepping stone the 3 continents of europe , asia and africa , some schools consider middle east a sub-continent , so stepping stone of 4 continents ,, hence its historical importance to many empires and civilisations , i think ive counted upto 16 - 17 empires that have dominated and ruled it ... its all relative and has no simple answer

"Geographically asia" and "politally Europe" think that must be about right. Nearer to Lebanon than anywhere I think.

Is my Times atlas wrong then? It is valued at over £100 and gives far more than detailed maps, aerial photos. of the whole world. Spent the Millenium at the Karpaz as it was said to be the most easterly point of Europe, to see the dawn rise on the new millenium. Wonderful time. We were a mixed group of several nationalities. Celebrated most of night, breakfasted outside and some swam in the sea on that beautiful morning.

We are in asia, this copied from wikipedia, There has been some debate[where?] about this in the case of Cyprus. This island is geographically Asian. However, its extensive historical, cultural, and political ties to other European countries lead many to consider it as a European country in non-geographical contexts. There is also the precedent of parts of EU member states being outside of Europe—for example, French Guiana is in South America and is a part of the EU, being an integral part of the French Republic. Greenland, a part of the North American continent, joined the European Economic Community in 1973 as a Danish dependency, but elected to leave the EEC in 1983, four years after attaining home rule. On the same note the next time that french pillock Sarkozy argues against Turkey entering the EU because 'only 3% of Turkey is in Europe' he had better look at his own countries dependancies, namely French Guiana. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copenhagen_criteria#Geographic_cr

It is on planet earth! inhabited by many species including humans. The human species likes to divide itself by either race, geography, religion, ethnicity or some other artificial definition. The reality is that we are all humans with 99% of the same DNA! In short we have more in common that unites us than divides us - so why do we choose to look for differences rather than commonalities? Answers on a postcard! Is it because some of us believe we are superior to others?
