My hubby wondered what the fishing was like around Kyrenia? Anyone know?

My hubby asked me to post a similar question some months back! Why don;t they do their own posting!?



I have spent hours watching my husband fishing from various parts of the coast around Kyrenia without much success, but then as i look out across the sea when the sun is setting, i always say 'I have watched you 'blank' in worse places!'



Maybe we should get the two of them together!

HI B&B London - loved your reply!!!!! My hubby fishes near where we live and I text him when he goes to ask him whether he has caught anything and he says "no" most times!! Great eh - I am stuck at home with a 2 1/2 year old and a 5 year old (both boys!) tearing my hair out and he gets to sit on a river bank (and probably snooze!!!!!). Think we should start fishing?!!!!!!!

can anyone tell me of a good shore fishing mark in the Kyrenia area. The places I have been to cost me a fortune in lost gear on the rocks. Also which species of fish are about and some idea of baits. I have been using prawns and fish strips but so far with no success.

12/14' made of fibre glass also out board engine of any make to suit above

dingy.in northen cyprus . this question is for information only as may wish to buy small fishing boat when we move to n/c hopefully this year

Yes, there is freshwater fishing. Head towards Esentepe. When you get to the Valley View Resturant turn immediately right. The road forks, take left fork, then right straight in front of the old shack. Keep going and you end up at a lake. Last October lots of carp, fished there 4 weeks ago got nothing all day. The locals tend to fish and eat what they catch, so one day the lake will be empty of fish and if it dont rain soon it will be empty of water!!!

Forgot to mention that you need 4 X 4 to get there. Do not try in a normal car you will ground it!! I know I did it in a hire car last Oct!! But dont tell anyone.

hi andy p. have you fished any of the big dams in north cyprus? im going over for two weeks in july and im going to have a good look round for places to fish . this will be my third time in NC the previous times there i was busy sorting the useusl things out that come with buying over there. the lake you mentioned did you fish the feeder and was it snaggy ? regards andrew

No special stuff. Just a 5m pole and sweetcorn. The locals go one better. I long stick, sea fishing line, hook, sweetcorn. Throw it in and tie the stick down. Come back 1 day later and eat whatever is on the end of the hook.



There is another lake not far from this one. Tried it in mid winter and nothing. Will try agian soon though.

Hi all

If anyones up for tuna fishing theres a guy operates a catamaran in Kyrenia harbour takes out small parties several miles of the coast ealy mornings and evenings

there are some good fish beds near Bahceli, esentepe way for the shore based fisherman
