School days, the best days of your life.

I just came across this clip of video from the final assembly at my old college.

Ah school days, what fun.

School days? Hated them.

I was a council estate kid who won a place at a snooty grammar school.

Most of the other pupils' parents were professionals, but because mine worked in a factory I didn't count.

Couldn't wait to escape.

I went to Inst, Coleraine Academical Institution, up to 1970.

It modelled itself on every bad bit of Tom Brown's school days. Prefects who could thrash you, condescending masters and school governors and old boys who were military, clergy or politicians. Pompous asses who told you to respect your elders and "betters"!

I hated them all, couldn't wait to escape. Bunch of obnoxious bastards who modelled themselves on the worst of English middle class snobbery.

That's why "If" touches a chord with me, especially the scene at the end. Revenge!

Couldn't that Bishop run!

I had so much fun at school, although i must say,it was years later that i became willing to learn anything and study for 4 years to obtain my diploma..and that was just because i found the subject interesting and i was very good at my job..School days for me was more to do with being naughty, and having a laugh, once i was even given the cane..

Oh dear, wish all they could all see today just how well i turned out...!!

I went to a Grammar School and hated it from the first day I started until the day I left. At my little church primary school, I was considered one of the 'clever kids' - at the Grammar I was a little fish in a big pond. It wasn't a snooty school; there was a large cross-section of children there. The only thing I was any good at was English and later I did an intensive course in shorthand/typing/book-keeping. However, although I disliked it intensely, I have to say it gave me a good education. Years later, my son won a place at a Grammar School which, by then, was much more modern and open-minded in its approach.

Although I didn't enjoy my school days, I am grateful for the eduction they afforded me.

I hated school and like Lilli, I travelled around alot being a forces child so at least i was never in one school long enough to get into too much trouble!

I left with no decent qualifications but that was down to me as both my brother and sister are much smarter and ended up with university degrees but I have the common sense and my degree is in life.

Lilli - you couldn't be further from the truth. I was the school prankster - often felt the wrath of the Headmaster by way of a long thin cane. )

I went to a village school started at 3yrs old and left at 15 yrs, I loved every minute. I finished school on Friday started as a junior in an office on the Monday, I didn't have any other education so didn't have any qualifications but ended up as a Manager with Local Authority I got there by sheer hard work and dedicaton on my part.

Woodspeckie, similar to me. I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
