Did anyone else? How many times have I been in, say, a hire car and pulled into a petrol station realising that I didn't know which side of the car the filler cap was? By the fuel gauge on the dashboard there is normally a little picture of a petrol pump. The hose on the pump is the same side as your filler cap. Sometimes, instead, there will be an arrow symbol on the appropriate side of the pump. OK, I know, you all knew that already!

I didn't know that either. Wish I had done - especially when changing cars - my husband's car has the petrol cap on the right side and mine's on the left. You get a lot of dirty looks on the forecourt when you're either (a) trying to stretch the hose over the top of the car or (b) trying to move it to another pump J

Somebody mentioned this a couple of months ago on TRNC Villa Owners Board. I found it very handy because I was one of those who could never remember. I think it does not apply to cars more than 5 years old or something like that. Good excuse for getting a new car. ismet

I'm always in trouble Bill. Luckily for me, she doesn't read this site. She doesn't understand English anyway, she is from Pittsburgh. Whoops - sorry Turbo Turk!

Sorry folks but this info is not correct....neither my Mazda or hubbys Saab have the filler cap on the side shown on the dial on the dashboard - his car is only 3 years old

Oh well. have to say that each car I have tested this on has proved it correct. I suppose something had to contradict it. Wonder what they do if the car has a filler in the centre of the back?
