Hi All...

After a year of waiting for electric, we are finally hoping to be able to move to our villa and the thought of scrubbing the floors in this heat is bringing me out in cold sweats!!

Any one know of where we can hire a rotary polisher from or have any recommendations as to how to best clean it after the builders are out! They have done a builders clean but it isn't the best!

While i'm here - can anyone reccommend a place to get white goods... We need the works!

Thanks for letting me pick your brains...All responses welcome - within reason!

Spanna.

surely didn't your builder polish them for you before handing your new villa over to you, beautifully clean ?

Hi,

Marble floors? - are they actually marble or travertine?

Whichever, you will need to remove all the bits of plaster and cement first, and there is no easy alternative to doing it by hand.

If travertine, you would do well to go round and check that all the natural flaws and voids are filled with grout after the above.

Remove all grout from surface using numerous changes of warm water plus vinegar. An industrial sized mop and bucket comes in handy for this!

Next step is sealing and polishing.

A sealant is applied by mop - 2 or 3 coats with about 30 minutes between coats, and polished by a machine with coloured pads (colour of the pad denotes texture, from coarse to fine, which in turn determines the degree of 'gloss').

Often a coat of 'finish' is applied, and again polished.

The heat produced by the friction of the pads completes the chemical process of bonding the sealant to the floor.

See local paper, or ask your builder to arrange.

HI i can recommend an excellent company and they use an impregnating sealer, not the other type that peels off after a few months in the heat of the sun!

Look at there website http://www.kemiko.co.uk
