20% when everyone else is giving 7-13% seems too good to be true....

Last time i got lulled into a false sense of security it involved Garry Monger's missus's home made steak and kidney pies - never again !

Your firewalls on your computers must be blocking/removing from sight the advertising which appears on threads.

It's all about the real rate of return. 20 years ago when interest rates on TL were 75% but annual inflation was 80%, the real return was actually -5% which was not good.

In the UK now, the interest rates are 2% or less. Looks bad, but according to the latest Inflation figures out today, we've entered a deflationary period. Last month the y/y RPI rate was -1.2%. So overall, the real return is over 3%. House prices have fallen 20% in a year, so you can buy more with your money.

If the inflation rate is falling, then falling interest rates or not necessarily a bad thing if things are getting cheaper.

-1.2% RPI ,which horseshit ,bullshit and complete shit made this statement,i have been in retailing nearly 40 years and i can tell you that recently we have seen many price rises between 10% and 40%, some due to exchange rate and some due to profiteering, the only problem with the Inflation rates given by this bunch of cheatin ,lyin, thievin bastards is by the time they have removed all the items that have had a stealth tax hike of course the inflation rate is low .They have modified the figures to suit and used the same accountancy procedures as they use to fiddle their expenses. Bring on the UK independance party and Hog roast this lot !!

Msg 18 .....bloody well said.......lets hear it for "say it as it is". Anyone who actually believes there is deflation in the UK with fuel and food and clothes going up the way they are.....needs their bumps feeling! Interest on most accounts in the UK wont cover "that lots" expenses......self serving, hypocritical Barstewards......Conservatives and Lib Dems too Coachie!

I apologise for being the bearer of bad news but the downward trend in interest rates appears to be continuing. With another cut in rates in Turkey and further cuts to come the rates will drop into single figures, so those banks offering very high interest will in time have to come down just like the rest of us.
