Teenager Alfie Patten was "extremely distressed" to discover he was not a father, it can now be reported. The 13-year-old was thought to have made Chantelle Stedman, 15, pregnant but a paternity test proved this untrue. Another boy, Tyler Barker, 15, who lives on the same estate as Chantelle in Eastbourne, is in fact the father of baby Maisie, according to reports. If schoolboy Alfie had been the father he would have made Chantelle pregnant at the tender age of 12. Alfie said he never wanted a baby anyway, he only wants a new Spiderman outfit.

The Times reporting of the Court case, includes the sentence "Alfie was “extremely distressed” when he was told he was not the baby’s father in March, the judgment revealed." The media (the tabloids) splashed it on the front pages - NOT that I buy them :0) - being a Times person myself - though any of us, looking at him, didn't have to read anything to know the second we saw and heard him, he couldn't possibly be the father.........I feel deeply sad for him, the emotional tsunami he must be experiencing, the actual teenage father whose life has been affected for ever, and the young mother (AND the baby) and the grandparents who no doubt will bear the brunt of raising this child, after all, how can a child raise a child unaided. All of them will also be the target of bullying and derogatory comments, everyone is a loser in this sorry tale. the fact

What happened to boys playing with action men and girls with dolls at that age, what sort of signals are the parents giving out. Alfie is distressed they say he should count himself lucky and have a young life, not be tied up for the next 16 years. MsGarnet you are so right its down to the Grand Parents now to take the stick from everyone. Sheila

Its the baby who I feel sorry for, what sort of family is he being thrust into, babies at 14, fathers at 13, cricky my parents would have skinned me alive if Id got up to those shin digs at their age. But suppose times have changed to such an extent that familys are no longer familys in GB. Law and Order stems from the parents, this is why we have the M.P. fiasco, no values on any thing any more.

The UK is a morally corrupt society. - you only have to look at the den of thieves in Westminster to see what they've become. Money is the only thing anyone thinks about anymore. It's a 'what's in it for me' society.

Certainly there is a lack of parental control in many cases. Having taught for a time in List D (Scotland) I felt that many of the children's parents should have been sent to corrective schools instead of the rather decent kids that most of them were.

Contraceptives in the tap water. Parenting shouldbe an opt in choice, rather than the default mode for lazy, irresponsible people. Sorry for the cynicism, but I have just been watching Jeremy Kyle.
