I would like to see less rubbish on public beaches. Also pools in Girne that are free to use for non residents. There are seven of us and we always buy food and drink but find it very expensive when we have to pay pool charges.

A really nice wine bar, not sports, kareoke, pool, darts etc. Somewere that has some atmosphere, where the music is good and you can actually get dressed up to go to.

Equal rights here for non TCs regarding property etc,

Better employers, (eg at Acapulco hotel you work extra hours often for no extra pay!) workers only working 5 days a week not 6 and part-time jobs!

Road repairs..I walk everywhere and have to look carefully where I am going as there is sometimes a lack of pavement or safe crossing on busy roads and holes in the middle of the pavement...

NatAless. I agree about the pavements, where there is a pavement you still can't walk along it . Walking from the Pia Bella to town is terrible, there are broken flags, concrete obstacles, cars parked and trees growing on the pavement.

Fewer whinging poms!

You whinge about the UK then you move to TRNC, knowing what it is like, and whinge about the situation there.

If you feel so negative about the place go back to the UK or find some other unfortunate country to spoil!!!

Woodspeckie,

the trees on the pavement tween Pia Bella and town centre were there long before the PBella!!

They have been a feature of that road for decades.

You will notice the lower part of the trunks are painted white for the benefit of drivers and pedestrians.

It would be a travesty to cut those down!

No offence but part of the charm of Kyrenia was its old fashioned almost medieval charm which is gradually being " improved and sanitised"

I liked it the way it was !!!

Littlejohn. What about the rest, the broken flags, the concrete obstacles and the cars parked on the pavement, are the trees painted white at the bottom so the cars don't crash into them when parking?

Woodspeckie,

I know where you are coming from and have sympathy with your comments. However all I am saying is that I liked the place as it was.

For example I do not like the new high street or the large television - or any move which changes the ambience of the place.

I also liked it before tourism took hold but I am part of that problem.

I don't like the endless half empty developments of apartments and villas which are blotting the landscape.

It was much more rewarding to drive out to Kantara before the new roads were built !

Everything was much slower and more relaxed.

I suppose I am just an old codger living in the past happy with dusty streets, decaying buildings, broken pavements, litter problems, corrupt police, crap politicians, bad driving but that is how the place is!!

I do not want the sanitised version which has spoilt every town in the UK and is now beginning to affect villages..

Best regards,

Bob

littlejohn. I can see where you are coming from too, I live in a small village and I don't like the new estates being built around us, I have lived in this village for my 71 years so I am and old lady who has seen a lot of changes. We are lucky where we are situated we still have a nice outlook over fields but for how long?

We are in NC Dec/Jan each year and we hire a car and when we drive along the coast road we are appalled at the buildings being built spoiling the view, we say the island is sinking in a sea of cement. We visit the small villages and love to mingle with the locals there, we can speak some turkish enough to get by to have a conversation, it makes our holiday.

littlejohn. I agree what you say. I have been visiting every year for 27years and have seen lots of changes, some good some bad. There has to be progress, but not for progress sake. One only has to look at the costa,s, ruined with progress. Unfortunately that is the cost of tourisim, if it gets out of hand. Hopefully NC will not go along that route. It is a beautifull part of the Island and long may it stay that way.

Message 40. The trouble is that people want to "improve' everything when all we want is to visit the place exactly because of how it is - warts and all !!

Those who want to clean the place up will eventually get their way and all character will have disappeared.

I have been involved with Cyprus since the 60s and I do not welcome the changes I see as I return each year!!

Why can't people except things as they are =-not just countries but other people ?!!!

I,m sure there would be fewer conflicts throughout the world !!

I think Direct Flights is a must - this would kick start the tourist industry and who knows what will follow.

Clarification of the law, rules and regulations not what rule have they made up today- its a bit like Lambeth Council in the 80s - a bit loony.

Agree that there needs to be affordable swimming pool(s) especially an indoor one for winter months - I dont mind paying a small charge but some of the Hotel charges for their outdoor facilities are quite expensive especially when you are staying there for a day and buying their food and drinks.

An end to all this worry and anxiety over property rights and court cases and all the rumour and conjecture connected with it.

A bit of a wish list really.

Flights from N.Ireland and Scotland, and the passport control guys at Ercan cracking a smile now and again.

No price discrimination and an attempt to encourage tourists to return.

Fines for litter dumping and jail for environmental damage.Better treatment of animals.

Banning of the building of swimming pools on individual properties, but the building of a couple of large communal ones instead.

Removal of that awful huge tv screen at the new high street.

All the people who since 28/4 suddenly had a property , lived in TRNC,had thousands of TC friends and just "discovered" our Forum ,going back to there own Forum.

I personally would like to see an integrated public transport sytem introduced.

There was a railway - long since defunct - but some kind of rail system would be good to see linking Iskele, Gazimugusa, both airports, Lefkosa and Guzelyurt. Girne would be more difficult with the mountain range in the way and costs may be prohibitive. Who knows if we see a federal state it could be extended south at Gazimugusa.

It would help reduce the number of cars on the road (carbon footprint), provide employment and allow tourists to explore more cheaply.

Deecyprus, you have obviously misunderstood my messages.

I want the TCs to be left alone to determine their own fate without ex-pats constantly nit picking and complaining.

They have sufficient problems of their own.

If you would just forget the "plight" of the ex pats and look at the conditions some of the locals have to endure

I know more about the Cyprus situation than most and I also know that few Brits have done much to help either the TCs or the Cyprus problem.

I also do not want to get into a "slanging match" with you as you obviously feel strongly about whatever it is you think you believe but please stop the typical agressive Brit approach to views you happen to misunderstand or disagree with.

I have no problem with you!!

Cyprus first and foremost, not greek or turkish.

An understanding of the menial people, the country first and future.

Medium of recognition, people and acceptance.

Indiference a political stand off.

The past. One to take on the chin but stop harping on.

Religion, your choice.

Future, potential, eyes wide open.

Aggression. Pointless.

Baby. New child. Potential.
