| Have just been told of the Aligator swimming pool system which was fitted to the 350,000 litre seal pool in Weymouth Sea Life Centre. Until recently the seals had been swimming in opaque water largely due to the algae and suspended solids, reducing vis to less than one metre. Considering that the seals live, eat and do their business in the tank 365 days a year, you can imagine the contamination. Also, since the seals have very sensitive eyes and respiratory systems, chemical treatment (chlorine etc.) could not be considered. Since the installation of the Aligator system, the water is now crystal clear and the public can now watch the seals throughout the tank. To my mind, this is a far better testimonial to the Aligator system than any pool owner could give. If any BB members go to the Weymouth Sea Life Centre, I'd appreciate their report on the quality of the seals tank water and maybe even a photo. |
