Burglaries Catalkoy 2 in last week

Hye

Lock up and be vigillant. In lower Catalkoy ( just off the main Girne road) there have been 2 burglaries in our vicinity ın the last 7 days One during the day (whilst owners were in the garden) and the other last night and may have ınvolved 2 vısıts by the burglars or them hıdıng ın the house when owners came back and then takıng further money on the way out later. Money was taken ın both cases but not IPODs/lap top etc . Both were reported to the police who seemed to shrug it off as just one of those things "that happen to tourists here "!! A bıt dıfferant to Lapta polıce who recentky actıvely sought to strengthen communıcatıon wıth ex pats and asked for reports on anythıng suspıcıous !!! Both propertıes were beıng used by vısıtors.owners wıth hıre cars on the drıve.

I have a wireless alarm fitted by Cevdet just had him around so that we can part set the alarm while we are home as alot of breakins are happening while people are at home. Anyone want to contact him his number is 0533 862 1603 He speaks perfect english and the alarms are Israeli and not chinese.

Sending this back to the top so poeple are aware. I noticed there was another recent post re burglary and security in Catalkoy. Its very worrying especially as visitors will probably be unaware and are according to the police "the targets for easy money".

Pass the word without panicing - put your money out of sight - lock up when you go out and do not leave windows/doors open at night. Also beware when out in the garden if doors are left unlocked and you cannot see the access to them (eg you are in back garden and front/side door is out of view).

Hopefully the culprits will be caught soon - although judging by the Police lack of interest it could be doubtful.
