Hi Kim and Neil, Have read your various posts and am shocked by the interest and emotions they have attracted. Maybe you have asked some ‘seemingly’ naïve questions, but no-one deserves to be abused. What I would say to you however is that Northern Cyprus and the good life to be had there, has a great deal more to offer than any forum. Who cares what happens or is said on a forum anyway, its not ‘real-life’, is it? Northern Cyprus is fantastic and is worth giving it a go, if that what you have been planning –don’t be put off by some stupid and no-doubt jealous comments/threats. Just don’t read the forums any more, OK? I don’t know how much location information you have given out, but if you feel that Bogaz area would not be safe now, try Girne on the other side of the island. Many expats living there will be only too happy to welcome you, as will the locals I am sure.Very good school in Sunny Lane, Alsancak, too.(see next)

Continued// Plenty of lovely villas with sea-views available to rent on the East side of the island at great prices. Try before you buy and go for it –you won’t regret it I’m sure and will never have to look back and say ‘if only……….’ Best of Luck, Susan

For all the negative responses Kim and Neil received there was also an amount of good advice, if they don't read the forums any more, how in the heck will they see this? |

| Britvik What I meant is that it is easy to get engrossed in these forums, especially if you feel passionate about something or have a new venture or adventure in mind. It can be addictive and what I am saying is look beyond the forum to the bigger picture. If reading the forums becomes upsetting as this obviously is becoming, just don’t read them anymore. But don’t let that colour your judgement of the country and the new life you had planned, as, it is very unlikely that you would encounter any forum folk in NC unless you actively seek them out. | Essexgirl, as I said in one of my messages, you need to read the negative as well as the positive in order to get a good overall balance. Many people put up negative remarks because they have been caught out and lost money via a solicitor, builder, electrician, government official ... the list is endless. So there are unfortunately good things to be learned from negative remarks and kim and neil could avoid the pitfalls learnt by earlier settlers in this country. I have been lucky and had some super help and advice and not really had a serious problems but kim and neil shouldn't read only the good things, no country in the world is that good. I do agree that when threads start coming abusive by anyone on anything, then things have got out of hand but don't answer them, ignore those ones, don't get involved with them and move on. I wish kim and neil good luck in their decisions and hope that they have learned something from this forum. |

Essexgirl I totally agree, this was not exactly Cyprus44's finest hour. Although to some posters this board seems to be some virtual world where abuse and insults don't matter, it is in fact, thank god, not what real life in N. Cyprus is about. What must life have been like before there were forums such as these! Well, we survived, and made up our own minds about the major decisions in our lives, for better or for worse. I agree that forums, properly used, are a great tool for giving and receiving useful information, however, if that spills over in sending somebody who is asking some good natured questions about life in North Cyprus threatening emails and to bully them off the board (and off the island!) I think we are taking 'helpful advice' a bit too far. Indeed I think that Kim and Neil have learned something from this forum, but that was probably not what they had expected to learn.

Without sounding horrible there was a lot of conflicting information on their posts some of which made no sense whatsover. The funniest part was when they said they took decisions to what was "impotent to their family"

ilovekibris/Stubs - the whole thing didn't ring true to me, from start to finish. Initially, I just put this down to my sceptical nature, but maybe in this case it wasn't. J

wicks, Me too. Like stubs said, I don't want to be cruel, but mass internet access combined with rising cases of borderline personality disorder can result in similar situations. Sad. Saying they were minted, no need to work again, big compo payout, town where buying, kids details etc etc is madness. Had a go at me as well for saying so!

ilovekibris - yup - they had a go at me too, so I gave up trying to offer what I thought was constructive help. There were a number of things that made no sense at all, from the villa they had 'bought' with Turkish title, to the 4 bedroom home they were 'completing on' the next day, asking about local schools and then announcing that the children would 'attend the best private schools on the island', etc. etc. It then transpired that they would be driving to TRNC - with 3 kids, including a baby? As you say, it does make you wonder with regard to personality disorders. britvic - yes, I think 2 threads relating to this were eventually closed. J

Sorry to confuse people but I am doing this from work. Jean if you look at our postings you will still see the thread where they said about completing, I've just re-read it & it makes no sense what they were saying. Paul

You can't fool a fool who's fooled thousands! I think I sussed this post from the beginning, too much information given, asking questions but when they were answered they said they already knew because they had done their homework? Just thought it was me being sceptical.

Message15 - I did not ever comment on the way you bring up your children or judged you in this respect. The point I was making was this - to drive from UK to TRNC is a long and arduous task. It merely surprised me that you would choose to do this with three children, including a baby.

I appreciate the fact that you know what is best for your children - they're your children. However, I did not make any comment on the way you bring them up. If you read the posts again, thoroughly, I think you'll find someone else mentioned them - it wasn't me. All I commented on was the fact that you would be travelling overland.

Kim Please go back and read my post properly. Your spelling is not the best in the world it was just when you said "what was IMPOTENT to your family" i did actually think it was quite funny.

Kim or Neil With respect many of your postings on here are of a similiar nature, style and wording but signed sometimes by Neil and othertimes by Kim yet similiar grammer errors appear in posts by either of you. If you have had health problems in the past may respectfully recommend that the TRNC is not the place for you. The health service is not the same as you would receive in the UK and should be one of the priorities which you have not asked about. Thirdly many of your previous posts are contridictary to some of your earlier postings. Good Luck in whatever you decide

I found the original thread very strange. I was about to offer some down to earth advice based on my frequent visits to the very area they were 'buying in' and knowing TCs and expat Brits who live there - the kids could be very bored in the area Kim/Neil are considering - depending on what they are used to where they live now. And I have several mates in that area who constantly moan about power cuts, water problems, (believe it or not problems re parking and who uses the pool) and so on, and others who do have young kids but keep a rental in Nicosia in the N. so the kids can attend school there and only use their Iskele home for weekends and holidays. But it quickly became evident to me that Kim/Neil did not want to hear anything other than encouragement for their decision to move to TRNC without having researched all aspects thoroughly. I do sometimes think that you need to don your rose tinted specs to post here - but never more so than on that thread.

Kim/Neil......I must say you have had one hell of a week on here ! Yes....it has all happened in a week ! Now that you've been put off moving to NC,have you suffered any financial loss as a result of giving backword on the villa you were completing on last week ? Or...have the developer/estate agent (Busy Bees ? ) given you your money back? If so....they are certainly worth a mention on here.

Ok....but a simple yes or no would have been fine. And if it was a yes....I'm sure Busy Bees would have welcomed the great publicity of a satisfied customer. However, you have your own reasons for your reticence so fair enough.
