Nick Clegg: The solution of the Cyprus problem is a precondition for Turkeys accession to the EU

Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (21.05.09) reports on the statements of Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the UK who has stated during a visit he paid to the Alevi Cultural Center in London that the solution of the Cyprus problem is a precondition for Turkeys accession to the EU.

Did they tell South Cyprus that. Talk about two faced.

This is a well known fact and has been for quite some time. who is two faced the UK or Turkey? The past is the past to international goverments. Cyprus has to move forward so that all cypriots benefit from the island, it is Turkey who are stopping the tcs from being able to gain a better life, they the tcs have eu status but again turkey are denying them the right to fully use it.

Cannot understand this - France and Austria have already said NO>NO>NO to Turkey joining the EU. A poll a few months ago pointed out that over 71 per cent of those in GB would like to pull out of the EU.
