Kibtek is the TRNC Electricity Supply Company (No such thing as USwitch here ! ) , and Lemar is a chain of supermarkets.

Re question 4 Cypriots tend to say Kyrenia and Turks say Girne. As Nigel says, it really doesn't matter which you use.

I would not haggle over a price when I go into a supermarket or shop and see things priced up. Cannot afford it then don't purchase it. Sometimes in shops that sell expensive handbags etc., you may be able to drop a few pounds but on the whole Northern Cyprus does not have the concept of 'haggling'. Also look at the airport from where you are flying. Friends 10 days ago saw £1 = 2.65 tl and they thought the lire was that in Northern Cyprus - think exchange had made a mistake, so have a look at airport.

You will not be able to haggle in the Chain stores ( ie Lemar, Starling, Tempo ) these are supermarkets...NC equivilant to Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury. Haggle in any family business...all will give 10% upon request...some give more on producing pound notes. Currently 2.44 is the exchange rate..it will drop for the summer holidays. ( last year, 2.19 ) Many towns have two names, people are happy using both...Kyrenia is the most common and well known. hairdressers are great value for money at about 5YTL

allby60 - there are a few books which specialise in Northern Cyprus. Trying googling "Tourist Guides - North Cyprus" and it throws up a few titles. I would imagine they would be available from Amazon. J
