General question: would *you* send your CV with a lot of personal details, including your mobile phone number and what have you, to an unknown person with an info@emailaddress?!

Hmm, guess I know what you meant.

Well, not just "@emailaddress". They have a website and some info though very basic. No phone no., no names, no "about us" page.

Simple answer - NO

=> Hmm, I think you do indeed. One cannot be too careful, especially when the Internet is involved.

Dutch, as a contractor sometimes I do as I get people contacting me through my website, having said that it is normally an agent or a company HR manager, if they are not familiar to me the first thing I do is google the company in the email address and check the company out if they have a website I will call the number on the website and also check up on the agency.

If I can fully check the company/agent out and have voice contact then I will send my CV after checking out the project they want me for if they will not give details then I cut them off.

If I can not check them out then no way would I give them all of my details, the Nigerian scammers tried that years ago, contacting you saying they were an agency and requesting your CV, copy of passport, contact details and copies of you professional qualifications, degree, bank details for payment etc. It is unbelievable how many people were stupid to fall for it too.

C'on Dutch, a CV does not include the details of your bank account or the names of your lovers lol. A telephone number is not such a secret. I have my mobile on my profile and I am still waiting for that gorgeous to contact me. Nah!!!

I get lots of spam with a big sum of money that they would like me to help them spend it and I just report them as spam. Of course there are many gready people who fall for them.

Dutchie,

No way should personal details be given away to someone who for all we knew could be an intelligence officer at the ROC interior ministry - in close cahoots with the ROC ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs if you catch the drift.

Already netted one or two suspects for all we know..
