GC aggression witnessed 1st hand

Dear all,



I was going to keep this to myself, but it has been eating away at me since Sunday night.



After my team had lost to Spurs on Sunday I stayed in my local pub in West London to carry on enjoying the atmosphere and having a good evening with some local spurs mates and others. A few more Spurs mates came later in the evening with some mates from the Palmers Green area in their company.



Got introduce to a few of the North London lads and was having a good time. One of my friend's called me over to meet this guy who was quiet burly, med appearance and a beard, around 40ish...........My mate said “this is Patrick and he is having a place built in Cyprus where you come from”...........I could tell the guy was a GC or Greek. He said hello and asked me where about’s I was in Cyprus....."Bogaz area, I replied"......"NO SUCH PLACE" he replied.....(oh shit...here we go I thought)…. Yeah there is and it’s just outside Famagusta I informed him. "GREEK LAND,ALL OF IT" was his answer. "Oh well this is pre 1974 and owned by Turkish land owners" I replied. "NO TURKISH BASTARDS HAVE EVER OWNED LAND IN CYPRUS AND IT IS OUR LAND AND ALWAYS WILL BE"…” why are you buying stolen land”..........when I tried to point out that Turkish people owned land in the South pre 1974 I was referred back to his earlier answer, with a little more aggression. Told me that the Greek Cypriots just let them live on the Island but they owned nothing!!



I Advised him that I did not give a toss of what he thought and one day he would realise that the propaganda and hatred he was spitting out would come back to prove him wrong. I advised him there was no point in going on with the conversation and I was here to enjoy a night of football talk and not a load of shite! Could have turned nasty.



My friend who introduced us jokingly said to me “Bet you never invite him for a holiday in Cyprus”!! ….he then himself got a mouthful from the nice GC man!



Well now I know what it feels like.

hi pat

you just witnessed that from one night, well im from palmers green where there are loads of turks and greeks, some greeks are friends but most of the majority from the school days till late teens we always had trouble with most of the mindless greek yobs who listen to all the propaganda especially in the pubs around palmers green, most ordinary people dont realise their is such hatred until they either buy a property in the north/south or holiday on the island or they have direct contact with turks or greeks

p.s you really cant get over the fact the mighty spurs made your chelski team look very average!!!!

now you seen it with your own eyes and ears, the actual differnce with turks and greeks are that turks know and understand everybody lost family, land, homes, money etc, but most not all greeks only seem to think they lost everything because of the turks and seem to forget a lot went on before 1974 when they drove all the turks out of their homes and villages ethnic cleanseing and much more for example my mums family are from skela new name larnaca and they lost acres of rich farm land aswell as many houses

but as usaul one law and story for one side and another law and story for another!!!!!!!!!!

Firstly the better team did win on the day.



Secondly..... I must admit it did get to me a bit. I have a rough idea of hatred and how it can distort the truth and make people so bitter.



My fathers side of the family originated in the North of Ireland, they fled to the south as their lives were in real danger and have never returned. Heard stories when I used to go over for my summer holiday's.........as I grew older I got to hear both sides and how they believed in their own causes. I was sensible enough to realise that hatred is not the solution and all I want to do is get on with life and leave the bad history to the past. We are only on this earth for a short time....too short to waste.



I Feel you have a real passion for your people and you also realise their is some good in the GC people. As long as people like you are about the country has a lot of hope.



Also for a Spurs fan, you are ok as well.

thats why I picked NC, its like home from home, lol !!!!

that was awful what happened to you, its like here though, there will always

be the hatred, only the normal people will want to sort the situation

thanks mate for your kind words and i would be living a sheltered life and be a fool to say there is not good and bad in any race, like you said i do have a great passion in something i belive in as long as its rightfull and good and all the infomation i have collected and pass on is from reading and researching from two sides of the fence because a coin has two sides to it etc etc and the main thing is to see thru all the media propaganda it might be the cyprus situation or religion, politics or just normal everyday life because aswell politcs rulling the world the media has a big part in it also



yeah and you not that bad for a chelski fan too!!!! lol

i know what happend over 21 years ago!!!! we lost to coventry in the fa cup final and lost to the gonners in the league cup final and just missed out on the league but at least we were the most enjoyable team to watch (hoddle-waddle-ardiles-hodge-allen) with the top scorer clive allen

The same happened to my friend!!



She told her other greek friend where I was buying a property and she flew into an anti TC /north cyprus rage!!!!



This will be interesting as I am going to my mates wedding next month and so is the anti turk -greek girl!!!



Could end up nasty- scratching and biting???

My daughter got sacked from her job in napa last summer because she mentioned to her greek cyp boss that her mam and dad were buying in the north.whwo the bleep do they think they are.
