I to discovered the text feature when I purchaced a top up they showed me out to text 1111 to get the 28 days credit onto my ŁG dongle

Sent a few to family and friends after a dozen or twenty they stopped allowing me to send them.

It was so nice to use a QWERT keyboard for texts !

Re the previous remarks, yes you do get 100 free texts with the yearly option, and in theory you can text anywhere, like an ordinary mobile phone, but when you exceed this, you may find your 3G will not connect, unless you 'top up' (although i think they have altered this following complaints). There is also a lower limit on the monthly option.

You may also find that texting to a mobile which is locked to another supplier also reduces the amount of texts you can send, due to recipricol charges made by the company, its the only way they can recoup thier money.

I agree its a useful facility to be able to use a keyboard, but keep a track of how many you send each month. I enquired about being able to top up on-line but could not get much help about this.

I have not experimented fully yet, but to certain countries Skype can work out cheaper if you use this to ring/text mobile phones.

Greengate 8

I bought the monthly card

then plugged in the dongle to lap top

accessed the text option

typed in 1111 to the phone number on the text option

in the message part of the text typed in the scratch card number

A minute or so latter the internet was working no call to a call centre

Hope this helps

Hi Wanderer

Thanks for the info - i did exactly the same as you (on the unlimited option) and found the keyboard texting facility very useful, but when the upper limit (100 free texts) is exceeded, and a top up was required. I have not been able to fully work out the charges for this, as compared with normal mobile phones, but i think it is dearer on 3G

You can also text from Skype and it shows you how much you are charged for each text.
