Newboy

you could try looking at

but to be word perfect in the law of a particular Country I'd get your solicitor to draft it up.

Hi Newboy,

The POA forms have to come from the TRNC as the wording is different than an english one. I went to the consul in London yesterday with an english one and was told it wasn't acceptable. I did think they would have the correct forms there but they don't.

We gave power of attorney to our solicitor at the start of our purchase, but the new one that is required specifically relates to the new law on land registry, and includes the plot of land your property is being built upon with measurements in donums etc. I think the information required on new POA is something your solicitor needs to sort out for you.

I have been advised today (HBPG) that if your builder/lawyer or estate agent registers the contract on your behalf, that a POA is NOT required.

That's not very good news for the likes of us, who have already paid our solicitors, but good news for those who haven't.

If the lawyers, builders, vendors, had done their job properly then everybody would not be running around like headless chickens trying to make amends to their mess.

Have a blank copy of my POA in Turkish given to me by my advocate together with my completed form in English , i will try to get both copies on the site when i am next in my office , these may be helpful , you can fill in the blanks and email to your representive in the TRNC (I understand that this does not have to be an advocate a friend can pay your stamp duty and reg your contract if they have the necessary paperwork)

Hi Spook

Excellent, you could send them direct to me at my e-mail address if it would not be too much trouble. Very much appreciated.

Just thought I'd add a quote from the HBPG website re POA

"NOTE: the Prime Ministry states that only the buyer, estate agent, builder or lawyer can do the stamping and District Lands Office registration on your behalf without a Power of Attorney. However, we know of instances where buyers have paid the stamp duty on behalf of other buyers as they don't ask for ID. This may not be the case at the DLO."
