I have to open an account with a local bank in order to complete my residency application but there are so many. Which ones would you recommend, it will only be used as a basic savings account or as something to put wages in should i ever find a job! Also, do you need to pay a monthly fee for any of them or are they free?

Thanks in advance

Hi. we are with Iktisaat. They have an English dept. upstairs & are always very helpful. I can call them direct from the UK or e mail them with any queries. Others would probably recommend other banks but unless you have many hours to spare avoid the HSBC. I once spent 2 1/2 hrs in there waiting. Hope this helps.

Creditwest every time.

Most banks apply bank charge for a current account, but no charges for a deposit or time deposit account The latter pays the highest interest rate. Expat branches in Catalkoy near Lemar, Catalkoy or Karaoglanoglu. Good English spoken in Catalkoy branch & IMO the best customer service in NC.

Seke Bank is very good. Friendly helpful people, excellent interest rate and the offer of a coffee should you have to wait.
