Having had problems connecting yesterday. I found out after calling Turkcell support that I had exceeded my limit for the day and was cutoff until midnight. So I asked what the limits for "unlimited" were, so thought best to share with everyone.

This is what you can download between these times to stay within the fair use policy;

2:00am - 8:00am - You can download any amount of Data (Unlimited)

8:00am - 2:00am - You are limited to 500MB

If you exceed the 500MB limit your account willl be locked until midnight and you will not be able to connect at all. Even if you phone them they willl not unlock you, no matter how much you beg them too.

BE WARNED - Unlimited is not Unlimited 24/7

If you download lots of Torrents, see if the software you use has a scheduler. This way you can set it to download only during the unlimited period. A good one is BitTorrent and it has this feature.

Cheers Andy

I just wish my download speed was fast enough to get 500MB in 16 hours!

I've been trying to phone my bank in UK all morning via Skype Out and the line keeps dropping because the speed drops to zero. Not a lot of good.

It is becoming a really bad service, especially in the Kyrenia area. Afraid they have become a victim of their own success. I am a little irritated since I paid 840 TL up front for unlimited download for a year( Got free dongle).

No one suggested to me at the time that this would be restricted to certain times of the day. Turkcell need to get their act together or I will go to Telsim

Coverage for Turlcell and for Telsim.

Does anyone have an idea if one is better than the other around Karmi / Lapta / Karsiyaca?

Dial up speeds are the best you are going to get from Turkcell. I only stick with it because it is the cheapest option.

Phone 444 0533 and keep complaining. If we all do it then maybe things might change.

They have always been rubbish in the Bogaz area. They were supposed to be using the TRNC as a test bed prior to a full launch in Turkey. They have no hope.

Turkcell " a major international company" what a laugh.

They could not organise a function in a Burton On Trent Factory!!

An absolute joke.

Do you get my drift?

Not a happy bunny.

I have used ADSL, Extend and 3G, and I can easily say that ADSL is the best choice. Turkcell 3G is full of problems and despite their claims on ultra high speed!!! I haven't seen a download (or upload) speed even closer to the 512 Mbit ADSL's. Not only the speed but the poor connection is another issue: It frequently goes down to zero and it's impossible to make a phone call using SKYPE or anything else. I don't believe they can solve these issues since it has been a long time since they started this service. Seemingly they don't have the necessary infrastructure...

Just to note that I am using 3G in Nicosia and I really don't think it works well in any part of the island. This month I will cancel my subscription and go back to ADSL.
