hi all

this i realise is a naive question, but i don't seem to be making any headway so need some help - you will guess that i'm not a jet-setter!

i'm trying to book a viewing trip and have no idea if i should be booking a package holiday, or a flight with separate accommodation. i've found a reasonably priced flight with KTHY but now can't see how to book a place to stay that matches the flight times.

am i using the wrong approach? what is the normal way for this to work?

thanks for any help you can give. i'm hoping to come in may, failing that september.

Hi chrissie , are you going to view independantly ? , if so then you can book a hotel near the area you are looking , i always used the salamis just outside famagusta as we were buying in that area , there is also the exotic near the fishing village in the bogaz i have no knowledge of any hotels in other areas. if you are viewing through a company they should organise everything for you or so one would hope

good luck , simbas

Chrissie

We booked independantly and spent a week looking at different areas, houses, developments etc, having made appointments with several estate agents.

At the top of this page there is a tab for flights and holidays, try this as you can check flights (mainly Pegasus) and search for hotel availabilty as well.

You can also look at car hire on this site as well.

Good luck

Hi Chrissie,

If you are going out thinking of purchasing property, then you can go out on what the developers call a viewing trip, which is supsidised by them. They put you up in an hotel and transport you around on viewing trips of their properties. Should you happen to purchase a property from them then they usually refund the susidised price you paid them. There are lots and lots of developers BEWARE some have been know to run away with your money!!!!

Look through the threads on this forum and try to find out on this forum which area you want to look for property. The choice is huge.

If its a holiday you are looking for I suggest you look at the section on the top of the forum page called flights and hotels.

Regards Colliedog.

thanks everyone.

i'm coming independently so not tied to any particular agent, though 2 agents know of my visit and will be setting up viewings for me. i'm not purchasing until next year - this is my choose-an-area trip.

if i bought the flight on its own, do you reckon i will be able to just walk into a hotel or B&B and book a room, or is that too risky due to the time of year? i would be very happy in a little inland guest house, if they exist. do they exist?

Hello Chrissie, and Welcome.

You could ask Izzet, http://www.gonorthcyprus.com

or I can recommend http://www.5-fingers.co.uk Family-run small Holiday Bungalows in Ozankoy. They will collect you from the airport, organise hire car, be your guide and generally do as much or as little as you require. Lovely people. I suspect the Email address is wrong. Try fingers@kktc.net

Hope you have a successful viewing trip, and when you are deady to make the move over, that's what I do!

Cheers

Jo

You could also try Tom @ IAH who is always very helpful. He has strong ties with the TRNC and can organise flights, hotels, etc. You can email him at info@flightholiday.com. By the way, I would also recommend Bird for car rental. The website quoted above missed out a 't' so it should be http://www.birdrentacar.com. On the basis that there are very few tourists around you probably wouldn't have a problem booking a hotel when you get here but it all depends on what time your flight gets in. Good luck.

Chrissie

I appreciate that your intention is purely a 'which area trip' but would strongly advise that you look at these forums before visiting and especially before evencontemplating buying.

It's all too easy to be sucked into buying. Look at

http://www.brstrnc.com/ British Residents Society

http://groups.msn.com/HomebuyersPressureGroup

http://www.hbpg-trnc.net/

Would also suggest that you look at completed homes for sale rather than take a risk on off plan. The old maxim BUYER BEWARE is unfortunately all too true.

hi rtddci

i've been hanging round this forum (and others) since about christmas and have discovered the websites you mention; also have read exhaustively round the subject of the north/south problems, the land issues and so on, followed the popular tags (above) and read about other people's experiences, good and bad. i have absolutely no intention of buying off-plan and am intending to only look at houses that exist, new or resale! i'm in contact with an agency that carries out all the searches before marketing their properties - due diligence, i think they call it - and am deliberately not going to be able to access sufficient funds to leave a deposit whilst there. the latter is because i don't trust myself!! have i forgotten anything?

thanks for your concern - i know it's going to be very difficult to not get carried away. i feel that making money unavailable is going to be my fail-safe.

Hi Chrissie,

We have used Green Island Holidays quite a few times including the trip to view before we bought.

Excelllent service and good value. Helpful reps and good car hire, one stop shop!

I agree with breezyboy.

We have used Green Island many times in the past for flights and accommodation when visiting the island for holidays and while our house was being built. Always found them to be very helpful and reasonably priced.
