Took the Monger's out for some nosh on Monday and ended up at Mannipenny......



Have had many a good meal there in the past, but this time......



If i had received a tenner every time i tried to attract a server by saying "excuse me", i'd be living in San Tropez - the waitress was more interested in rattling to her Cypriot mates than serving at the tables.....



Tucker - not good, i had Chicken wings which tasted like the card-board from a corn flakes packet and Spag Bol which tasted like it had come from the "under a quid" section in Iceland.



The Monger's stuck with Pizza and were happy with their choice (but then again they'd eat anything that stood still long enough)......



all in all a very poor show and with the drinks checked into the melting pot, not a cheap night out....



They are forgiven because we have had some top tucker in the past, but i sincerely hope that this isn't the shape of things to come...

always give them another chance NN, they have worked really hard please dont give up on them from one bad experience, especially when all the other times have been so good.........

It seems that service and food are all likely to have an OFF night every so often.



How many OFF NIGHTS did you have in eateries before you moved here?



Would appear to be a thing that happens all too often over here, why?



More like a lottery when you go out for a anniversary, celebration or just a meal out.



Has happened to us on occasions.



Four or more sit down for some good food, and someone's not happy with what they ordered.



Off nights :-(



Not a good excuse!

Interesting to hear 2 other restauranteurs saying "give them another chance".

If the restauranteur supervised their staff properly in the first place, then the problem wouldn't happen.

Bad service usually comes from the top!

Ozbey, I agree, however, if nothing was said to the owners of the business how can they correct it? I agree it shouldnt happen, but you should allow of mistakes VERY OCCASSIONALLY, not all the time, but if you go somewhere on a regular basis and its always good, a one off bad experience shouldnt stop you going, surley???

ladylittle, I'm glad you agree with me that the real blame should be placed at the top.

I also agree with you, in these circumstances (where previously everything was good) I would tell the owners and give them ONE more chance.



Nick, did you tell the owner? (sorry for suggesting you should take positive action).

'Mani Peni' is a 'pizzeria'-stick to the PIZZAS it's what they do best! The pizzas are VERY good and if you don't like the service they do delivery/take away! So you can buy your drinks cheaper from the supermarket, it is a reasonable place but it's always the alcohol that will make the bill go up!



I have never had a problem with the service and find the settings quite pleasant, have never been in a rush but found the service to be quick, efficient and polite, unless they are very rude or slow or make a mistake with my order, I don't usually notice too much as I am more focused on the person I am eating with and have to say that the pizzas are so good there I wouldn't be too bothered either as long as the chef keeps us the good work!
